Tips curling (eagle claw)... Can't determine cause.

Ok, so even though I have a few grows under my belt I still consider myself a newbie. I have grow in soil in the past but finally made the leap into the world of hydroponics.

The problem... with different types of soils (quality organic stuff) and different types of nutrients as well as the new hydro setup I am getting curling of my leaf tips (Curling down like a claw). This said, it does seem like my hydro setup is not anywhere near as bad, but I worry it will get worse. Temperatures have been in range and I have really good ventilation.

At first I blamed soil, so for the next grow I tried a different higher quality organic Fox Farms soil. Same problem.

Next I blamed the water Ph, so I carefully made sure I watered with a Ph of 7 (in the soil). Same problem.

With the hydro setup I keep the Ph as close to 5.8 as I can... I check it daily... and I am noticing the tips are just starting to curl down a bit. I am using a 1 part nutrient from the hydro shop and giving it the proper dose according to the instructions. (I do not have a PPM meter yet).

Oh yeah, I am using City water that I leave out a minimum of 48 hours with two large air stones bubbling it. I doubt I have hard water coming out of my tap. So, what the heck is going on? Is it possible my city uses Chloramine instead of Chlorine and it would cause this? Any ideas really appreciated, I can try to add more details if I left anything out.

some of my plants do that too, never have figured out why. they grew fine and im smokin them..

generally , two different things can cause "claw" leaves. over watering and overdose of nitrogen. i grow strictly in soil, s generally if ive got one that does that i replant it, removng as much soil as i can from the roots, and i replant in soil thats drier and igve it a few days before watering. when i do fertilize after, i generally only 1/4 or half strength, depending on how large the plant is. one time i had a friend give me a PK plant,and it was dry as a bone (literally, it felt like it hadnt had water in days) and i made the huge mistake of watering it with some ferts i already had mixed, and literally within 2 minutes the leaves curled into the "eagle claw" position and within 1 hour the plant was completely wilted and dead. big mistake!

anyway, if it were me, and i dont grow hydro, id drain my system and add fresh water and only a very small amount of nutes until they recover ( and they will recover).

dude that plants fine..trust me..leaves are going to turn yellow, leaves are going to curl, that plant looks good

its nitro overdose ive travelled the path that you are now on. drop your feeding or use plain water more

Don't worry dude. This is a hummingbird claw on your pic not an eagle one fo sho...Typical claw is much more prominent (the whole leaf is clawing not just the tip) and often a genetic trait.

Thanks for the input everyone. So, any hydro growers know if I should just top off to bring the nute concentration down? I was planning on changing the res (13 gal) every two weeks... seems like a LOT of nutes @ 4tsp per gallon... but that's the medium range on the bottle (1 part GreenDream 2-2-6 this).

Ph has seemed to settle a bit near 5.7...
