To flush or not to flush?

That is the question. I have seen countless grows on this site where growers did NOT flush and got dank amazing bud that they say tastes and burns righteous.

YET i also see grows where people swear by it. "It brings out the taste after curing"......"it cleans the nutes out and allows the finished product to have more flavor"...."it increases yield" (?????)

If anyone has it, I would like to see SOLID information from both sides. I'm still in the vegetative stage but I believe this is an important question.

ADVICE OR COMMENTS ANYONE?

I can only impart my own experiences, but I happen to believe that flushing is absolutely necessary. I recently harvested after using Clearex for around 5 days. Stuff works great. I was a little desperate for smoke, so I had to pick a fat bud from one of my plants a few days before flushing. I gave that bud plenty of time to properly dry and when it was ready to smoke, the bad fert taste was impossible to not notice. The good stuff I have now has only been curing for two weeks and smell, taste and smoothness are all dramatically improved. All because of flushing.

Lastly, I can't say I've ever heard anyone claim that yield improves with a proper flush. I definitely haven't seen any evidence that it's true in my own grows.

great reply. how long do you flush? do you cut all the light for the last 2-3 days as well? (i have heard it helps with resin production?) also do you leave the plant with no water the last couple days?

Lots of people don't flush and everything is fine. I think curing properly is the most important thing. However, I'd flush for the sake of not smoking a lot of these inorganic chemicals. Who knows what these things can do to you in the long run.

If I'm using Clearex, I only need to flush for 3-5 days using just the recommended dose of Clearex with plain RO water. I've tried not feeding for the last couple of days and I can't say I really noticed a difference, other than the fact that drying time is somewhat reduced. Leaving them in darkness for the last couple of days helps a little with resin production, but nothing crazy. It's still enough to be part of my regular routine from now on if that tells you anything. By the way, If I'm not using Clearex, I use plain water for the last two weeks and I try to change my reservoir water at least a few times.
