To flush or not to flush?

I was listening to a podcast with the author of Teaming w Microbes, he said flushing is pointless. Before i could throw his book in the trash he came back with "You're gonna taste the chemical anyway". Back on the shelf.

You can taste and smell overfed unfaded daytime harvested bud. You dont need a fuckin ash test. The Trichome Institute needs to develop that scratch and sniff test for unflushed bud they've been talking about.

But it's all in their heads according to the 2/3 of the population who failed the armpit sweat test (one third detected vanilla when presented with an armpit sweat sample, one third could not detect the sweat sample). Sorry but 66% of the population at the minimum is not allowed to hold an opinion on flushing. These are people who can close their eyes and plug their nose and confuse tooth paste with peanut butter. Your opinion does not matter at that point.

Confirmation bias, placebo effect. It works both ways. There are definitely more people who pretend their bud tastes good after reading a description on Leafly, than people who actually have good tasting weed that can't be sorted by its inputs. The shit people will say tastes good, that literally tastes like various grow products, it's astounding.
The bad taste is the residual affects of all the bullshit coming out of your mouth.

YES it does, and this actually has a name. The Bulking phase!

You will find out that you will get a bit more swelling out of the calyx's if you go a bit farther.
Hi,

I found this topic to be very intersting. For me the question is.. when do buds really stop growing in size? When I research via google etc. I only find answers concerning the right time to harvest.

Nice to read the thread. I am a few days before harvest and will feed water for the last 3-4 days without flushing.

Thank you for all the advice and good info

They stop growing in size when they reach that point in their genetic maturity. This can be different for every strain. Some sativas will keep growing for many many weeks because they are gentetically guided by the natural growing environment where they can grow very long periods without bad conditions. Other plants come from mountain areas where the genetics have developed to finish faster and grow smaller because if not they will die.

They increase in on a bell curve like way, at around the 7th week. peak and fall back off to little by week 9. Sativa's will be later but basically hold that 2 week bulk.... What builds or can build after that is natural foxtailing like many OG strains show. Then you have the more "traditional" looking foxtailing by some Sativa's.
This is also when the calyx's swell up and can get really pretty....Run at least 2 weeks longer then any breeders report..

I run long, longer then many do but, about the same as many at my level...tic or 2 longer.

your deer eat mountains? ones around here seem to like my garden a lot....
Fuckers are getting bad around here again too.

First time in over 30 years on this property that they have come in and ate off my ornamental bush's....
Hunting #'s are falling. Bone head antler shooters are passing on all does and under 4 per side bucks. It's getting out of hand.... I had l NO hunting requests for our land this year. I filled my personal tag limits and still have bad problems... The 2 bucks I shot were 10's too.

You can imagine the field loss.... Getting my Farm unlimited lic...... Gotta do some culling....
Means an uptic in sausage, steak's and ground meats for a while...Not a bad thing either

hi,

thanks.

Why do you run longer, for bigger yield or for the effects?
I grow to reach the strains potentials... Max potency and return. Sometimes the potency seems more but the effects have altered to points that can be astounding...
If you run a large plant. The mains tend to finish and you harvest those, leaving the lower, interior and smaller buds to ripen. 2 weeks (maybe a bit longer) later you harvest those.
These are dried and cured just like the mains..

The difference between the 2 can be quite astounding. I have patients/customers that only buy these smaller late harvest buds...

Try it some time and see for yourself.
