I've never grown a mainline, only regular topping.
let the plant develop as many branches as you want.
Let them grow a little to avoid them growing immediately up instead of out, if let them form they're easy to tie and it's easily managed, trying to tie/bend fresh growth around the top isn't great.
That's what I'd do but your plant isn't yet ready to top imo.
Let it grow on and benefit from its foliage.

I would top that. I top starting early and supercrop the results.
