Trichome assistance please.

I honestly have no clue when I switched to 12/12, just noticed it was time and boom switched them over didnt keep track of the day or anything but usually the plant tells you whats up. Wellllll now I am just watching my trichomes they are smokey not quite changing to amber yet but i was curious when i start hunting for the ambers should i be looking at some of the lower nugs and the top or just stick with the bigger nugs at the top? just wasnt sure. Ive been checking both plants all over on the top just really haveny moved down the plants to check the lower ones, just curious when they start changing if i should focus more on the large top nugs or look more towards the bottom.

Also the strain is WW there are 2 plants. I was thinking a 60/40 split or a 70/30 split, amber/smokey, trichomes. any recommendations on a good split when i should harvest. Its WW/indica, so usually more amber for that more laid back feeling just wasnt sure..

Thanks in advance!!

Trichomes are checked after your bud appears ready on the outside. Can you post a plant and bud pic?
Here ya go, if this helps or if you need different pics just let me know still new to growing.

As long as all those white hairs are on there you won’t. Wait for it to finish. Give it time. 2-3 weeks.
Got it, some have turned orange, do they all need to be orange or what’s the split like on that? My first grow I was focusing on watching my trichomes and that’s when I pulled them but since then I’ve been reading a lot more and kinda backed myself into a corner and just trying to educate myself a little bit more on when to harvest.

Next time just throw a sticker on the pot so you have a timeframe to work with. Your leaves look like sativas or sativa dominant hybrids, which usually take 7-14 days long we to finish. If your not growing for sales and just for your own smoke then you can harvest it for the high that you like (if you take her early she’ll have more of a head high the if you cut her in the peak window of ripeness you will have a well balanced high, if you let them get majority amber and take it late you will get a couch lock put you to sleep effect, but either way you want most of your trichomes to be milky.

I like 95% or more orange.

wait for other opinions but I’m saying it will be at least two weeks for those white hairs to turn orange. Then you can start checking trichomes.
It’s difficult to go off the pistil hairs because I’ve had strains it peak ripeness with still some white hairs and I’ve had some have all the pistils lay down and they still had a week, it’s all about the trichome color

I started a grow diary and an Instagram so I can keep track of EVERYTHING, I’m going to document everything, amount of nutrients, date of watering flowering everything. Just so I know what I’m doing right or wrong and I can get my growing down and then I can focus on what strains I like the most so I can’t enjoy it a bit more lol

Yes all strains are different it takes me 2 runs minimum to get them dialed in, always take notes with dates because you can’t make adjustments unless you remember specifically what you’ve done each step of the way. I have a 3ft stack of notebooks some phenos from more than ten years ago that I don’t even run anymore lol

WOW so that’s my plan exactly but going digital lol. I have a notebook that I use while I’m working with them then I just copy my notes onto my digital diary to keep it all organized and from getting destroyed. I picked a couple different strains for my next grow that has just started in a smaller tent, I chose some based on what I’ve had before and really liked, but that is the long term goal is to have each plant dialed in after a couple grows with notes so I can always grab that strain pull up my diary and just follow along.

I invested in a plug n play microscope from amazon for less than 20 bucks. Well worth it. Check out my thread. I need to post better pics but I haven't had much help so I've just checked myself and I've got a few amber but not enough yet for my liking. Look those up tho send me a dm if you have troubles finding them.

I’ve been using a jewelers loupe, just got my iPhone 12 pro so I’ve been using the camera on it because it’s crazy good and I can see the trichomes wayyyy better than with the loupe but I’ll try to track down that plug and play microscope

Yeah it gets to 1000x. I bought the loupe first too and it helps but this blows it away. Check these out from last night. I'm trying to find amber. I found a few but not enough yet.
