Trimming fan leaves

Guess I could chime in on the subject. I'm going to go ahead and say its more about at what point you cut them in the vegetative period and flowering period. Also the plant has a lot to do with it as well. Right now Ive been growing cheese quake and it never even shows signs of stress after I strip the shit out of her or even snapping(super cropping)some limbs every where.

I will strip my clones down for when the go into to cloner this way when its done rooting any shoots receive light first and I get it started that way. Then after about 3 or 4 weeks into veg or about a week or so or less before I want to flower I will pretty much lollipop them then and leave them to stretch for the two weeks and towards the end of the third week I will strip off every thing below the canopy again. After that you pretty much leave the girls alone.

Take it for what you want but that's my routine usually no matter how i train the plants or what ever type of grow im doing from tree's to scrogging.
 
Yes put a bigger fan in there and make sure it moves the plants a good bit, not like a hurricane, but I think ya got it. :-P

A six inch fan is not good enought for this size setup. I would go a little bigger, make sure it oscillates and be sure to check all your leaves get a little shake when the air crosses them.

As for trimming leaves, I don't cut off anything during veg at all. After 3 weeks of flower I remove the bottom 3 rd of the plant along with any fan leaves that are directly blocking a bud site. Good luck.

Ok thanks i have got a bigger fan that i can use just wasnt sure what to use as it is my first time lst'ing and wasnt sure whether to have to much blowing on them thanks for the info
 
Buds DO NOT photosynthesis'. Nor do they provide the plant any other source of energy extracted from light for any practical purpose. Nor do they transpire for the plant. Fan leaves carry out photosynthesis and transpiration for the plant. And by doing these two things they create the needed energy sources for a plants growth. The so called lower popcorn buds are a hormonal response that has nothing to do with the lack of direct light. Lumens mean dick too. Its a measurement based on what the human eye see's. Not what a plant uses to grow. So removing leaves to remove a shadow from a bud site only makes the grower feel good. It has the opposite effect for the plant......

No one has said that buds photosynthesise. I merely pointed out that I only remove fan leaves that block bud sites. The reason I do this is to allow me to monitor them more closely. Check the health of my bud, feel for density, check the trichs etc. the reason I lollipop my plant is because I cannot be arsed to deal with them at the end. It also means that nutrients are sent to the top buds instead of being wasted on shite.

Idk man the buds need light. I mean, think about it. Indicas are short and bushy, generally lower yield, with most of the light reaching the fan leaves and the main cola. With sativas, however, you have a taller, more spread out plant, with generally higher yields, and the light is more easily able to reach buds that aren't on the main cola. It also allows for better air circulation. Not much of a difference, but it counts. Especially when growing indoors (which is the only reason I can think anyone would want to trim their plants). Some may say it's for bigger yields, but you've already got a full grown fan leaf, what's cutting it off gonna do? I personally think trimming your plant should only be for indoor growing
