Trimming????

When to trim? In flower is where I see many a branch, leaf ect.. that needs to be trimmed. When they flower is when the real size change begins and well are there negatives to trimming large long lower limbs ect during flower? Say right before or right after girly show that is. I think it best to trim them all the way up in veg but I am not 100% about what is the best or what will occur either way negative. ? Thanks.

Just leave it alone, trim off the fan leaves as they turn yellow. Important, when cutting them cut them by the leaf not the stalk let the branch dry up and fall off on its own, if it green leave it alone.

it is not a problem to trim lower branches in flower. i do it at day 15, then at day 36 i trim some of the large fans that block light. i know they have stored energy but the plants are given a perfect enviroment and my yield increased.

i have trimmed all but leaves around buds at different times thtiny fans in and under buds support buds should never be touched(ones sometimes frost over)
and it is my thery that fans on stalks support stalks fans on branch support branch

my thery is stalk and branch fans are not needed after stretch is over (first 1/3 of flower)
and wre only needed for growth, veg stages, and stretch stage - nutin to do with buddage

i dont know for sure on stress values my plants never complained production never sufferd like those that have not tried is suggest

and i think also that is why sum plants start shedding and yellowing them at 2/3 into flower
i have remooved them down naked to the top smaller bud fans and single leaves sticking from buds
at all three stages of flower and saw no significant difference

i believe in experiment - i dont believe in doing whut everyone says - mainly cause all EVERYTHING is different
set up-lights-reason for growing- seeeds- experience -likes- i think you gotta do whuts best for your setup and grow style

try it for self dont take my word or no one elses - do a side by side like i did
hit me back on the differences

good luck

i agree and i actually trim a lot more than i let on because i didnt want all the crap being posted about how im stressing the plants, and all that. i know it works for me, my yield increase was obvious and no little popcorn buds.

the diff in you and me is i dont car whut others have to say most here dont know whut they are talkin about

if you ask whut color is it 3 say blak 3 say white 3 say its gray and 1 wants to argue wit you that its orange then you find out he is blind

but reason i found out why so many answers is
1- so many diff was to do the same thing
2- only the thre that say its gray is right the rest is wrong (otherwords all have input all cant be right if all are varried )
so i take in all data then i do whuts best for me -not the next guy - an i have learned to listen to all not do whut all say
cause a big percentage just talk -from whut they think or heard - i talk from whut i have tried

good luck to all

Have you ever heard of the word 'botany'

Mate, i think you need some lessons in the basics of it, because you my friend, truely are deluded.

Do you really think the plant just 'dis-regards' it's photosynthesis factories as it's about to go into the most important stage of it's cycle....LMAO.

Move over david attenborough, there's a new guy in town.

ACTUALLY...YES...a plant will 'dis-regards' it's photosynthesis factories, as you put it. Trimming your plants will not only keep them happier but if done correctly can increase your yeild. A single leaf is actually an energy storage device to a point, once that specific leaf is no longer required for energy purposes is becomes a detriment to the plant by no longer storing energy but using energy to stay alive. If you watch your plants they will tell you which is which.

Your statement shows your abilities, so maybe before you start spouting your mouth off about Botany you should get your facts straight.

The facts here are you have no clue so maybe you should not give advice.

At what stage would you say it becomes 'Detrimental' to the plant?

I keep ALL leaf matter green until harvest day, FULL STOP, trimming may aid airflow in the underside of the plant, but in no way will it make the plant 'happier'

BTW, I do watch my plants, hence how i manage to keep ALL my leaves green throughout the grow :) makes for a better bud tbh.

not a very nice thing to say. maybe u think that every one is going around and taking off all their fan leaves. u know this is not the case at all. people lollipopping and cutting under growth has been going on for decades.
this thread belongs right here where it is.

i dont think everyone is going around chopping all there leaves off, but he states ''

This is what i would call deluded, as it is total nonsense, so yeah maybe i said it a little sarcastic, but it is total crap.

Well ok thanks to all but some additional info here for ya. This is not my first rodeo boys. I have done many a grow and done it every way actually. My set up is pure, sprayers in tubes never off. Really a areo/nft set up. My lights are huge. My yields have always been huge but my plants never go yellow. Not even in the last days of growth. I finish a plant in 53 days in 12/12 with dense huge colas after around 30 days in clone/veg. I get so many many many!!! Huge fans that never seem to get yellow all over the plants and well I have to trim some out well lots out when the plants get big just to keep molds at bay but I have found that leaving the popcorn side stuff with many plants and the 34to9 10 big colas per plant give me tons of extra yield. around 30 oz in a 8x7x6.5 area under two 1k hps. Around 16 plants all done at about 39 to 42" tall.. This works but in my small area it is so much work to keep em separated. Remember the song to some degree. You Gotta Keep Em Seperated...... LOL.. Oh and by the way my rez temps get way to high in the summer but since I don't have a chiller, best to use one, I use H2O2 in the rez and never get any sick roots. Thanks again....

confusedone, we have a lot of the same. i also use my aero/nft setup, i pull around 40-42oz from 12 plants under 2-1k's, and i also very rarely have any leaves that go yellow. thats why i started using a bloom for soil with low nitrogen the last three weeks in flower and still no difference in leaves. i have some that are ready at day 50 and can let them go to 60 with no yellowing and all amber trichs.
