yeah if you want to but i thought he was still growing the plant out i was kidding too i think it's a great plant
i hang the first half plant and trim it as things get dried up, i adjust the branches closer together as they dry on the line to try and get a slow-ish dry, with less chance of mold.
i like to leave the leaves on but if they dry ill trim them.
i do a final trim on day 8 or 10 and then snip the buds into paper bags .
i leave the bag open or closed depending on how dry, and try to make it to day 12 or 14 before i put it into jars.
i leave the jars closed a couple days then check them. if the moisture is good i close it up for a while
by the time thats ready i chop the second half of the plants, giving me bottom smoke which is at a different maturity. I like doing this it seems to give me a lot more yield
i've read a bunch of threads about the drying methods, how do you guys like to do it?

thing has been in that 3L for about a year and its the 2nd harvest. lol yyeah i know thats some gnarly shit, you should see some of the outdoor plants i harvested back in the day..

right now i got some real deal ceeds and will post up in ben's 2 or 4 top forum.
the plants were cold shocked one night and i woke up to terrible plants...
regenerated them and cloned them down, buried down the main stem a bunch and did the 2-top method. 3 plants total, and about 20 clones in the cloner

Just came back to say thanks again to you, Uncle Ben. I ended up with 3 females out of the bunch and ultimately chose the Super Skunk over the Skywalker, for a variety of reasons, the biggest being my 2x2 space can only handle one plant.

Uncle Ben, I applied a lot of your way of thinking to my first grow and I am stoked with how she turned out. Kept her green the whole way. :bigjoint:

Excellent first grow! You should be proud....and I agree....listening to UB is a great way to learn how to grow weed.

Harvest is a mixed bag, your call. I harvest when new calyx and pistil growth has come to a crawl, pistils are 80% brown, calyxes are plump looking like they contain seeds and if you start seeing nanners.....the plant is telling you it wants to produce seed.

So in some cases nanners are signs of a healthy plant?

ooh how do i unlike (lol)//did you just take the fan leaves off because your harvesting now?
Even if I wanted to continue to try to grow more with the fan leaves off, the plant still looks healthy and would remain looking healthy. I've seen some pretty nice grows where the fan leaves were stripped. Its a matter of preference but still so many people get hung up on how pot is grown. I do it the way I chose, you do it any crazy way you choose :leaf:. One reason I chose the Super Skunk is because of this being my first grow and the strains noted ability to tolerate the mistakes I made.

I explained what it's a sign of. Has nothing to do with a plant's health. Most cannabis will eventually show imperfect (or perfect capable of pollination) male flowers if left flowering long enough. It's nature's way of completing its internal genetic program regarding continuing the species. It is a form of stress, like "enough is enough, let's get this over with". The plant wants, needs, to produce babies. Once that's over with it dies under normal growing conditions.

I haven't tried what's happened to some of my plants but have seen anecdotal evidence from folks I respect that the following is legitimate - if a female throws off just a few male flowers......the progeny (seeds) will all be female. Think even Mel Frank discussed this in his Guide.

Be sure and save those seeds and don't do like I've done, keep them in your personal seedbank. (Can't kiss all the purty ladies.)

Uncle Ben's Thought for the Day

"Nothing is more expensive than a good deal on something I didn't need in the first place."
I have a few exceptions:

"Nothing is more expensive than a woman who's free for the evening"

"Nothing is more expensive than a soon-to-be ex-wife."
