Using Hydrogen Peroxide, to kill algae and bacteria, and prevent root rot

I was trying to help out a member with bud rot, on one of the forums, and i came across an article about root rot instead. Couldn't help my buddy out, but i'll lend some knowledge that i came across to help y'all out. I was reading on cannabis culture.com, about using water chillers for the dwc's and how high temps carry less dissolved oxygen for the roots to absorb. With lack of oxygen it leads to Bud Rot. looked up water chillers prices, and they were fucking high. so the article then went on and talked about using Hydrogen Peroxide to number one 1 increases the level of dissolved o2, 2 kills bacteria and algae, 3. takes away chlorine and other additives, cities have placed in the water. anyways, the article goes waaaaay more in depth about Hydrogen Peroxide usage. Enjoy!

Damn you HR your ontop of everything lol. I was just about to scroll down and read the next comment and I saw your name. Already Knew what you were gonna say lol. Funny because I was gonna say the same thing too. Since I've been using that for such a long time.

It's working, their taking up about 2 gallons of water more per 3 days. So in a 20 gallon resi it shows lol. But at the same time the roots aren't going crazy yet but they are showing an improvement, also its keeping down the slime. What's difficult for me is that I need more airstones and a bigger air pump to run the airstones but I can't afford any more equipment. Since I'll need atleast 2 for my current resi then 4 for the tea batch. Last time I used 2 for the tea, and thats part of the reason why I think it's not working up to its full potential. Also it kinda sucks because I'm almost out of tea, and I need to make more. If I do that I have to take the air stones out of the resi for 2 days lol. Such a delima...

What is compost tea? How do you make it and how much do you add per gallon of water? I have water chillers, but I guess adding a little of this is not going to hurt. I have a 1 hp chiller and my water is always around 68 degrees.

Yeah I'll do 3 table spoons, and 3 handfulls of EWC and then I'll do 3 tablespoons of molassis too. Kinda even things up a bit.

That could be a bit strong but going all in to distroy all the bad then you could drop back to a weaker tea

Yeah I'm thinking if I do that, then I could probably hold off on the tea for about 3-4 days then add a cup about 4 days in instead of 3. Idk yet though. I'm still thinking though that the reason why it wasn't as effective was because I didn't have more airstones so it wasn't creating a lot of movement and the EWC I'm thinking probably ended up just settling at the bottom and not be mixed around as effective. Just a thought.

Great info but compost teas are the way to go and more bennys for your plants
i disagree, maybe in soil yes. In hydro you want to kill that stuff. I've used bennies in my reservoir and found them to be inconsistent in aiding in the uptake of nutrients which makes it impossible to max out feeding schedule. I get bigger healthier better yielding plants with a clean reservoir and un-dyed roots.
H202 is the way to go for clean nice reservoirs.

i dont have a lot of h202 experience but when i was done with growing my dinner noodles i used h202 (reluctantly).
A lot of people say its NO GOOD for the res.
I found it, ...helped to clean up my roots, fairly quickly. the parts in the water faster obvs.
within a week i went from fuct to ok and it took another week to get em thriving again BUT
about 4 days in i started dropping off the h202 and thats when the plants started to grow faster.
I shocked the system again a few days later and the plants shut down again.
at the same time, they have about 8 times as many roots now than they did right before CHOW MEIN.
most of the CHOW MEIN was removed and or cleaned gently.
Until i get the rest of the Heisen tea ingredients its gonna be minimal h202 IF ABSOLUTELY NEEDED.
i dont feel like i CURED the algae, i believe im just beating it right now.
bennies are the way to go.
I used h202 because it was that or watch em die, so i threw a hail mary.

i also broke down and sterilized EVERYTHING with a light bleach solution before the FRESH batch of h202'd water went in.
so
roots looked like rotten chow mein one morning.
I h202'd at 3ml/L of 3% h202 (thats HIGH! i took a chance)
let it sit 24hours
then emptied res, cleaned everything
refilled with distilled and h202'd water (ph'd of course)
refreshing the h202 daily at 20% and lower add backs
then back to basic nutes ...
next time bennies!
