UV, IR, How much, for how long?

In my last grow I had UV A/B in the grow space when the main light source was on and infrared was added when flowering started.

The current grow has UV A/B and infrared exposure whenever the main light source is still on.

We all have to realize our solar systems sun produces UV A/B and infrared continuously. Outdoor grows are exposed to both from the beginning of the grow until the plant is cut down.

If indoor growers want to compete with outdoor growers we need to add UV A/B and infrared exposure starting when our main light source turns on. Having both infrared and UV A/B exposure helps the plant reach its fullest genetic potential.

Leaves are thicker with UV A/B and infrared supplementation. The effects on your body are more intense. Trust me... I have had my fair share of "High Grade" grown without UV A/B and infrared. The difference is noticeable.

I use these 12-3w leds on either an lpc-30-700 or you can use a meanwell ldd700h with a 48v power supply. ->http://shop.stevesleds.com/SemiLeds-InfraRed-IR-3W-Brand-NEW-8794102597.htm
and these ->http://shop.stevesleds.com/SemiLeds-Deep-Red-3W-Newest-Version-8794102499.htm
and these ->http://shop.stevesleds.com/SemiLeds-Far-Red-3W-Brand-NEW-8794102596.htm for 45 minutes after lights out. peace

As an aside, many of the high CRI white LEDs (93-97) add quite a bit of long wavelength red (as well as blues) as a means of boosting their CRI.

HP mercury discharge lamps are very good sources of UVA/UVB (400-320nm and 320-290nm respectively) and often quite cheap

@Airwalker16 hittem up for a free 60ml sample, lots of people on IG getting freebies. At 1ml per gal , it goes farther than a morman on prom night.
Though not directed at me, I took this advice and was pleasantly surprised when I got home from work today! I just wanted a small bottle to try out (just one lady veggin' ATM) but was stoked to see the "sample" I was sent! Awesome.

You just put these on the front of your heatsinks your cobs are on right?
The Far Red are on the heat sink. I use aluminum channel 1"x1"3/4" for the DR and IR leds. easier to place and attach to the heatsink. I mount them outboard of the fixture attached to the sied to transmitt heat back to the main heat sinks. The leds do get warm and need to stay cool too. My heatsink is full of far reds, no more room for the DR and IR. peace.
