It's early, I'm confused, lol - an HID and an HPS are the same thing. HID covers all the high intensity lights, are you referring to the MH light maybe?

The HPS light puts out the light spectrum they like for flowering. But I have heard of people flowering with an MH lamp, haven't done it myself - so I couldn't say if it would be better.
Yup your spot on DoeEyed I ment I swapped out the MH bulb for the HPS bulb. So I have done the right thing then. Sweeeeet!!

There seems to be a hell of a lot less heat from the HPS so i'm tempted to put it closer than the MH but concerned that I give it radiation burns from being to close to the lamp. What are your thoughts on that?

They are, in fact, a bit cooler than their MH counterparts, staying sharp I see! They will still burn the shit out of your plants if you aren't careful. lol I have done this, last one I fried, it ruined one of the main colas, left a scar-like mass of leaf where the cola should have been.

Start around a foot - see how it goes. Watch the buds directly under - they should have hairs all the way around, if you start seeing less hairs on the top of the bud, like a bald spot kind of - the light is too close. I've noticed some strains can handle it better - closest I've been able to get, was about 8".

I dont think I have seen any hairs anywhere yet. I'll double check in two mins. The lamps about 9-10 inches away from the top leaves at the moment and if I put my hand under it for a couple of minutes it doesn't feel like its burning me or is uncomfortable.

It still seems pretty healthy but its harder to tell now that it's under an orange light as you cant really see the green as well. Need to invest in a cheap pair of sunglasses too as its not so nice staring at the orange glow.

You'll get used to it.Just make sure you go in every now and again right before lights on, and get a look at her under normal lighting. Here's a pic of my LS at a younger age. See how the top of the bud is rounded? Little poofball. If you see those top hairs disappearing, that's when you gotta move it.

I dont have anything like that on my plant as of yet.

Here is a couple of wee close up of where the new growth is. I never thought about looking at the plant in normal light before the light comes on thats a good idea. Shame they come on at 11am and i'm at work by then or I will be as of thursday.

I find it very difficult to take decent photos under this new light as my camera struggles with the light. Anyone got any tips on manual settings for my camera to take better pics under these type of lights?

You'll have buds soon enough. You don't have to check her every day before lights on, just like once a week or so. Always use a flash, that'll help a bit. Or sneak and get shots before the light comes on.

To be honest I don't really know what i'm looking for most of the time all the new growth looks like wee mini leaves to me lol.

I'll leave it another week or so and take some more pics before the lights come on and with some flash, should have my new shifts by then so will know whither I will be doing it first thing in the morning or not.

Thanks for the advice DoeEyed, excellent as usual. :) your like my very own MJ Yoda ;)

Hay dude nice to see you here. I have no idea what strain it is i'm using it came from a mystery bag of mixed feminized seeds so your guess is as good as mine :)

Hopefully we will find out once it starts budding if one of our RIU vets takes a guess for me.

What phone you using? iPhone by any chance?

woah virgin dont get to excited or you will blow your load. Plant that midget in a 1 Gal pot now and set it under a red, blue and natural light CFL about 2-4inches away. And watch it like a sea monkey as it reaches for the stars. Expect 1-2 inches of growth per day if you use light nutrients.

Thats what I said Bust he's kind of right though but nothing beats 6700Kelvin I use 26W 5 of them mixed in with some lower kelvins like 3000K&3500K for vegetation and 2700K for flowering.I hope this helps my friend.I know you use the big guns MH&HPS.

Peace out bro,

I dont have a clue about lights mate all I know is that the MH is what I use for veg and its a 400 Watt and I swap this over to a HPS for flowering :)

Think he posted in the wrong thread to be honest. Don't see the relevance myself or am I tripping?

Huh, I didn't really understand the relevance of that post either, thought maybe it was something between the two of you from another thread or something.

Looks overwatered again, but otherwise healthy. She is flowering - see the way the cluster of leaves on top (in the last two pics) is changing? That's a bud beginning to form.
