I'm not sure this is right place to post this but I have a 55 gallon barrel I use only for plain water. Put a water hand crank pump on it few weeks ago but now I'm noticing the water is like a yellowish to brown looking color not real dark but still. Barrel was around half full when I put the pump on it, If I pump gallon or so out its a very light color. Could the pump be growing alga or iron problem? Will this hurt my plants?

I'm not really sure if it will hurt your plants, I wouldn't use that water , it sounds like rust to me

yea I'm going to clean it again and re fill the plastic barrell
I think the lever hand pump not made for water but for oil. Cause it says nothing about water said recommend oil or fuel.
Never had this issue tell then so has to be the reason

If it can get light in there and there's no movement brown to yellowish is just stagnant water and algae of various types it sounds to me
