Ways to Disguise a Window

Hi all,

For a grow in a bedroom in an apartment building, I need the window for intake and exhaust of my air-cooled lights and my portable A/C. Plus a large passive intake to draw fresh air into the room, which is being exhausted via a centrifugal fan pushing out the bathroom exhaust (with carbon filter of course).

How the hell do I hide this thing so it doesn't look suspicious from outside? It's on the fourth floor, so it's not like it's at eye-level or anything, but still.

75% of the glass area, the parts that don't open, still have the blinds covering it (with black/white poly behind to block light). But the part that opens, I need to mount a board with a bunch of ducting and a darkroom louver, and I can't put something on the outside of that because it will block airflow. Right now it is covered by a large piece of furnace filter material, which is a little better, but still pretty visible.

Suggestions?

i used black tarp. 10 bucks at ace hardware and it will last you for days. i just put a fan on the window sill with the window partially open so its pullin in fresh outside air (or blowin out exhaust air) and hang the black tarp over the window and wrap it around the fan so it can still blow. ya know what im sayin

I get what you're describing, but that's not exactly the stealth look I was going for.

I would like the window to look ordinary, not stand out at all.

I've also been thinking about this lately, but don't have any real good ideas how to make it totally stealth looking with 2 ports and an ac unit. Maybe put the ac unit in the window, then on either side have a hole for the intake and exhaust. Then maybe dryer vent covers to make it look better? not exactly stealth but better

Oh man, this is my FIRST post. Hopefully it'll help you out... as i'm not sure if you've seen this or not:

Hopefully it'll give you some ideas. I'm sure you don't need to watch the entire thing, just what he does with his two windows.

Nah, that is totally not stealth. My grow is in an apartment, and there's rows and rows of windows that all look the same and have the same blinds, and then there's my furnace filter window :(

And on top of that, the furnace filter is starting to get grey on the intake areas because it's filtering the air coming in from outside.

Yea man, just get a window style ac unit and hollow it out and run your ducting straight into it.

I Hung 4 curtains and poked a hole in the corner for the ducting and just put a inline fan on the ducting blowing air into the room.. with exhaust i connected the ducting to the opposite corner of the wndow.. cant see anything from outside cause the ducting is flush with the curtain, and light cant get through cause its angled...

Mhmmm. Not exactly sure. So your just wanting something to cover the window so people dont see your exhaust/intake right? Maybe put some a REALLY dark screen?

Not really sure tbh.

I was looking at this website awhile ago when I was looking to do something similar.

http://www.boddingtons-ltd.com/industrial/fine-screening-mesh.htm

Suppose its extra fine so no insects can get in but still allows for good air flow. It is probably the same type of screening you can pick up at Lowes/Home Depot.

Edit - Screening can be a bit expensive too lol. Here is screen section for Lowes.

Just edit the options to the left. I assume you'd want black but I Didnt select it, then do under $50. There were a lot of listings. Id just look over them and maybe some have customer reviews or something. Or just go by your local hardware store and check them out for yourself!

There are window boxes out there for cats. Its a bird feeder with a 2-way mirror. So the cats can see the birds, but the birds can't see the cats. They are decorative (ie: not a hacked together plywood box)
