What does this mean? (Leaf Tips Browning)

This is after exactly 2 weeks of 24/0 light and moderate to low watering. It is growing like a mofo the last ~4 days though, so I know it is doing well. I added like a pinch of nutes (literally) on day 7. It was like 1/8 the recommended dosage.


ps. Is there some kind of "sticky" post which shows pictures of problems/issues and documented problems/resolutions?

LOL, I know, I was like "it looks like lettuce" too.. I dunno what it is - it is bagseed. I am saving my good seeds (I have 10) for until I get the hang of this.. :)

I think I figured it out using GROWFAQ - It is heat burn. My CFLs are not that close (about 5" away) but I have too many. I've got basically the equivalent of like 125w on this one little baby. I think I need to back off my lights a few inches or unscrew some of the bulbs (I was planning on having 3 plants but it quickly became 1 go see my journal for more details).

Anyone else agree - HEAT BURN?

No I don't think it's heat, the tops would be getting brown tips if it was heat, I think it is nuteburn like the other guy said. It looks to be doing fine I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets a lot worse.

Also come to think of it, I think the yellow tips may have been there from a sprout. I vaguely remember that, actually..

Anyways, when should I begin fertilizing, if not now?

I was planning to go to 12/12 in the next few days, so basically 2.5 weeks of veg only - expedited cycle - working as a proof of concept for my setup.

Also, I have poor airflow right now until I finish my fan/exhaust + carbon setup. So I was thinking it could be low oxygen or too much heat throughout the plant environment, although it doesn't really feel hot near the plant. The soil top dries out quickly, though, but I am almost certain it is wet way down in there. I might have to do the toothpick test to verify that though.

It is from some schwag we got down here in the South.. :(

How big are the roots at this age? (2 weeks) A grape? A golfball?

I'm hoping today's watering flushed out some of those nutes so it does not keep burning.. :(

Ya might as well grow it out some before going 12x12 its going to take it a while before its mature anyways.

It is not a very serious burn I wouldnt worry about it, as far as switching to 12/12 I would wait another 2 weeks atleast, if you go to 12/12 after only 2.5 weeks the plants wont be mature enough to flower for another week or two. Thus you will not have saved anytime at all, and all you have to show for it is a smaller plant and less bud.

Ok well I guess someone elsewhere on this board indicated you can go to flowering from the get go. Traditional outdoor grow. With 1 or 2 weeks veg it is better of course, and the more the better but to save time, do this...


I'm worred I did nute burn this because I remember back now to earlier when I watered I thought I saw more of the nutes on top of the soil still and now they are
watered in so it may get a 2nd burn here by tomorrow.. *doh*

Well crap, I'm now gonna go and sprout a seed I just got which is from some much better green (not brown) stuff... Smelly stuff.. :) So if I killed this one, I will have another ready locked and loaded to go into soil.

Your plant is pretty far from dying man, just give it plain water for a while. As for 12/12 from seed the only thing this does is make your plant shorter, so if you have a really limited space to work with then you go 12/12 from seed. It takes cannabis 3-5 weeks before it is old enough to flower, so no matter what light schedule you use it will still have to go through 3-5 weeks of veg.

OK, so basically you might as well veg for 3-5 weeks because flowering before then won't do anything, but will have less overall growth from the flower light cycle. That makes sense.

I'll assume this girl will need 5 weeks to mature, so I will let her go another 3 wks I guess and then induce flowering and THEN nutes?

ps. I did have 4 seeds initially. 2 never sprouted/up and 1 other one died shortly after sprouting. Hence I now have 1 left ("lefty") and I'm sprouting another tonight just for giggles oh and "in case". :)

I hope "she" really is a she. Sprout a couple more for insurance. I would hate to see you with nothing but one male five weeks from now.
