what happened to my everclear run???

I used this much everclear plus added a bit more. and used an oz of weed.

the everclear was frozen, but the weed wasnt and I was impatient.

the weed was also chopped, bottom of the pound crumbs from the buds.

I shook it very quickly form about 15 seconds, then drained. it did kind of look like it had a bit of green in it, but I dont think so.

I then just put it outside in the porch.. it rained overnight, but no rain got into the dish.

I woke up in the morning to this... now I dont what it is or what to do with it??

WTF!!! looks like something containimated the end result. did you have a screen over the open dish outside or just open. and why not just let it evap in a spare room or something. less chance of contaimination.

it was outside, uncovered... dont think anything contaminated it. it was on my balcony for 12 hours while it rained to not much airborne particles were around. lots of moisture in air though.

didnt want to in the room due to fumes, and my spare room is the smoking room. im paranoid to blow up again.

first tell us the story of how you blew up..

looks like you got a bunch of moisture in there tho buddy try double boiling it much like you would in a bho extraction try to evaporate some of the moisture out.. what do you have to loose?

The green is chlorophyll and the white is a water emulsion. Alcohol will absorb moisture from the air.

At this point, I would use heat and cook off the water and residual alcohol.

haha the ISO one or the butane one??

ISO: we were young and dumb. still learning how to make oil properly and learn the obvious. I was just there helping in a small batch. I wasnt the mastermind.

I rinsed some weed in 99% ISO I think. over rinsed as hell. and we would cut a 2L pop bottle bottom off... flip it upside down. tie down a few coffee filters. pour out ISO into that pop bottle funnel and let it drain into a big piece of glass.

we would drip off a few drips... then light it on fire!!! it would be a small, quick fire, all ISO burns off in a 3-5 second fire, and youre left with a ring of oil. crazy and bad for oil... I know. this was like 6 years ago.

anyways, the filter in the funnel would get plugged.. so we would put out face to the bottle and blow on it to make the liquid come out faster. worked fine.

we had a lot of ISO and this shit was taking forever.. instead of 10 droplets then lighting it on fire, we would do 20... then 30.... pretty soon we had a handful of iso on the mirror that were were lighting... inside, right by the back door.

pretty soon we were getting cocky and my buddy was blowing so hard on the bottle (I think we poked a tiny hole in the filter too) and there was a thin piss stream of ISO coming out of the bottle.... right into an open flame on the mirror.

well, of course the fire jumped up that piss stream, and then light the whole fuckin funnel bottle/coffee filter on fire while my buddies face was on it!!! didnt get burned but boy did he get scared lmao... panicked and threw that bottle full of flaming iso behind the furnace in a hard to get area. some splashed onto this shitty couch that was beside us. the carpet had a small fire.

it only lasted about 7 seconds from fire until it was all out... seemed like 10 minutes. the flames were fucking HUGE right off the bat... they got small quick though thank god. everything flashed through my eyes. I seen myself standing on the road with our parents (we were like 16) and my buddies duplex burnt down and my life ruined. I was SCARED!!! a lot flashed through my mind in that 7-10 seconds. I grabbed my buddies pillow and started hitting that couch and floor as fast and hard as humanly possible to extinguish the fire. we got the fire out, wasted a bunch of oiled up ISO. almost both had heart attacks and burnt the place down but everything was fine. the couch had a few big burn marks, we didnt waste everything... we at least able to salvage a few hoots.

and yeah... that was the last time we EVER cooked off our ISO via fire!!! LMAO. young and dumb alright. learning the hard way, like always!!!

fade: ive had it sitting on the griddle for about 2 hours at 100F and its looking much better! I will post pics.

This is just a guess, but the coincidence is not coincidence, rather that I've followed your teachings for quite some time.

Hence the 3 occurrences were we have answered the same post with similar answers.

That being said, Thank you for your due diligence in sharing your knowledge amongst the cannabis culture.

Anyway..

Yes, the green is chlorophyll..
Fix: Your wash time was essentially perfect, but by guessing from your pictures.
Did you separate the material BEFORE, letting filter through the coffee filter?

In other words, did you use a separate, larger holed strainer to remove your plant matter from it's solvent, before the final coffee filter?

If you let the material sit in solvent as it's filtering, the extended exposure to the polar properties of ethanol will pull the undesired chlorophyll.

The white is from the process of nucleation, as FD pointed out, nucleation is basically the process of crystallization through the introduction of moisture into the raw extraction.

And just to reinforce FD'S comment...you can add a vac purge with the heat to remove the moisture at a faster more efficient rate.

yes I know the green is from chlorophyll. I had shaken it in the jar, and poured just the fluid into the coffee filter/strainer. some chunks did go in though.

then I poured that soaked weed into a baggie, ripped the corner, and squeezed the excess fluid out for about a minute. I found bringing the baggie up 2 or 3 feet with my hand, dropping fast, then stopping suddenly like milking a cow made it drop a ton of golden.. then green liquid every time.

the overall oil isnt that green. plus the yield is kinda low it seems.... just re inforces the fact that im not a huge everclear fan!!! I like my butane runs! then winterize. but not everclear for the intial purge.

I put the oil into a dish, it evapped most of it away.

anddd,those bubbles be the moisture! no acohol, no hash, looks almost like milk eh?

happens to me all the time boiling off the everclear..i just let it ride out on 105F to get the rest of the white out, no pump... pump comes soon after though..

theyve all looked like that... itll turn brown. then when melted. goes golden again. I dont know!!! maybe material isnt fresh enough... the everclear run was defintiely old, dry, joint type material. got 5 ozs left, not much butane though. would like to try something new with it.

I want to try making budderkings budder via whipping it with a drill for 15 mins (bad for terps I know... dont care) not sure if I should start with everclear or butane though.


I explained the zip loc trick in an earlier post. just a way to get the everclear out,, cut corner and bring bag up and down real quick like giant handjob and it makes golden everclear squirt out of the bottom. probably doubled the amount inthe dish that originally just poured out.

Start your run with butane, then boil it off in half a cup of everclear, when done put in freezer for few hours to winterize.....then remove, filter into pyrex backing pan and evaporate off.....when it is almost done....scrap up into center and put in freezer, remove in 15 mins, re heat up to 120, and start whipping with a pin....not a drill.......whip air into and freeze again....pull from freezer and reheat and whip.....you will eventually evap off everlcear and be left with budder....whip to your desired colour an consistency......as good , if not better than budderkings budder......just remember good buds in....good product back.....I get about 10 grams of budder from 2oz of great pk buds.....I don't have to buy budderkings budder anymore.....he is a looser......also I barely have to vac with this process.......since all butane boiled off before going into the freezer....I have used my vac chamber....just seemed unneccessay.....imo.....just make sure you boil off butane outside........
