What has happened to this plant!!!! A cry for help...

So, rookie here...

Mixed up some nutes (fox farms 6-4-4, can't remember name but it's the vegetative nute) about 7 days ago and let them sit under sink counter (cool, dark space). Watered plant and fed about 1/4 gallon of them to the plant. Left and was gone for about 24 hours, when I came back to my horror there were brown spots all over my fan leaves, the ends were curling down hard on some leaves but not all, the newest growth on the plant doesn't seem to be affected at all... Also gave a treatment of 3/4 teaspoon neem oil dawn dish soap dilluted in 2 cups of water right before feeding (i had about 99% of the mixture left). I basically went into panic mode, did about 2 hours of research and settled on flushing the plant with about 2 gallons water with no nutes. I also chopped off one of the most damaged fan leaves at top of plant which was likely stupid but it was in the roughest shape. My logic was that the plant would not wast energy trying to repair that leaf. Still have about 7 leaves looking really rough.

Backstory... bag seed that I believe to be super old. Started outside and then moved it inside once I saw it was a female with only minor issues. Plant seemed to be in shock for 2-3 days but recovered and the biggest issue is what I believed to be spider mites from the white dots on my plant. Plant is approximately 7 weeks old and about 16in. tall. I topped it about a week ago and new stems are growing. The plant was growing slowly from the beginning which is why I think the seed is super old and my main stalk is super thin but has about 15 fan leaves on it. Growing in a 1 gallon pot in fox farms happy frog potting soil in a grow tent under 300w full spectrum LED. Humidity and temp controlled by a decent vent setup. Have a fan on the plant canopy at all times to circulate air. Lighting is 18-6...

I thought it was nute burn at first but after reading I'm wondering if it's just a ph imbalance from the unfresh nute mix. Or both? I'm also wondering about the neem oil. It's 100% pure neem oil which I dilluted as mentioned above. Should I just abandon ship on this plant or is there still hope? Did I take the right steps... ahhhh so many questions and I'm super bummed about doing this to my first lil baby :(

Any help is appreciated!

I'm no help with the problem plant, but I feel for ya.

Sure helped me...
If at all possible start several plants in solo's.
Once robust. Toss extras at transplant time. Choose the best.
Don't transplant all at once.....one at a time, wait a few days, or until confident.
If you lose one, no biggie.

This!!! I germinated 4 and tossed others lol... Kicking myself now for sure! Thanks for the advice!

I’ve heard of Similar problems with Fox Farm
Oh wow, super surprised to hear this given the research I did on their products... It did seem like an easy button at the time tbh... did I not shake it enough hahahah. After the flush I will say everything has loosened up. I'm monitoring PH but have no ppm/tds meter to really monitor further.

back to research on nutrient delivery i guess... my plant was doing quite well given the lack of attn up until this point... Fresh mix of nutes from now on... ughhhhhhh such a set back.

Plants dont spend energy trying to repair a damaged leaf, they just grow new ones. Doesnt really help to remove leafs that arnt dead.

If using fox farms use 1/4 str. It's really easy to burn your plants with it
Thank you for correcting my logic... So going by the bottle == I overfed the plant... Sigh... so should I just cut the rest of the damaged leaves off?

Why do you let your nutrient mix sit? Serious question though not being a smart ass at all. Do you feed cal mag and do you add any dolomite lime to soil? I assume you’re growing in soil. When you flush you should use about 1/4 strength nute mix in each gallon (ph’ed). Make sure not to overwater as well, let them dry out.

Look into heavy 16. It seems expensive when you look at it but a little goes a long ways

To answer your question about the nutrient mix; ignorance. lol... So far have not added anything else to the soil. I'm using happy frog from Fox Farms. I am a bit confused about the nutrient mix... so you're saying use 1/4th the recommended in each gallon? For example if it calls for 1 teaspoon per gallon only use 1/4 teaspoon?

Follow this and 1/4 strength starting out. Feed, plain water, feed, plain water etc

But yes when flushing would recommend adding 1/4 strength nutes to each gallon run through.

Edit: obviously you don’t need every single product on here
Lol, right on... I will definitely be following this guide from now on... Appreciate the help!!

There's not one fucking pic to see what happened to that plant. What happened to that boi?
I posted a pic inline with the thread...

Well my leaves that were burned are an eye sore but everything else is growing and looking a lot better. Pruned a couple leaves that were pretty much dead on top of plant and now my top shoots have grown an inch in past 2 days. She might live after all.

Was planning on using this for clones but reading that I might not want to do that since I burned this one. Any input?

It wont be a problem to take clones from it, dont stress out about a bit of leaf burn it's not a problem, it's just a sign you need to back off the nutes. I'd just wait a few days to be sure its growing vigorously and go for it. When cloning I always pull all the fan leaf except the top set anyways pretty much.

Also remember that while a leaf may look ugly to you it's doing a job and how it looks to you may not be how the plant feels about it, it's your job to learn what the plant is doing with the leaf. Much worse than a bit of burn is twisting and deformity.
Rule of thumb is if its growing and not stunted it's not a problem
