Very vague question. Depends on how you want to grow.Say 3 to 6 plants, what would you need in terms of investment?
300 bucks would pay for a light and the filter, still need fans, nutes , containers meters, ph solutions. and so much more.depends on alot of factors.'
i could do it for 300 bucks. (using a 600w hps)
And ya still have to pay to keep the lights on, takes more than some realize.I'm over 1000$ on my grow.
From wood and screws to tape and mylar to fans and filters to lights and nutes to additives to ph meter, ppm meter ph up, down.... etc. etc. etc. etc.........

If I had a budget of $60 for a grow I would buy 2 vanity light fixtures from home depot at about $15 each and eight 26w CFL's for about $20 Light timer for $5 and some superthrive. I'd find pots, use backyard soil and tap water. planting 6 plants, flip to 12/12 soon as they rooted. Low stress training, and expect about 1 oz in the end.A friend of mine swore he got going with about $60. He built his own systems and got a cheap light, not sure which systems he built or if he did it with soil or what. I'm sure the diy guys have started off from pretty much nothing before.
Best climate control aid is a vented light hands down.keeping it all climate controlled is the biggest cost, IMO. lights are cheap. figure your cooling solution first. start off with what you can afford. if all that is is keeping a 400 watt cool, start there.
