What soil to use?

Being a newbie myself, I used mg for some lowryder 2 and they did well.....then used mg for some ONYX and they don't like mg.......so I'd say.....mg may be ok for some hardy plants but not good for others. I've switched to organic potting soil for my next onyx grow....seems much better so far.......
