Went to a interview and did really well, the position is security. I have 2 years of experience and 2 associates degree. i had my picture taken by the employer becuase you need a professional look to be qaulified. however since my gaurd card is new i only have 8 hours of training. Employer saya i need 32 more hours and it will cost me 100$ if thats fine with me. Also after he said thier is a drug test in two weeks and i am competing with 30 other applicants.
So far it has been 7 days and no reply. But than again no one picks up the house phone. What should i do? Email? Call?

If someone is calling you about employment you should be near a phone? You're not exactly hounding the employer if you do ring them. I would hassle a little bit, and on the last call do not say goodbye. Cuss em out.

I heard everytime I left a job that it was sorta recommended not to say goodbye. Managers, they sorta have a thing about the labor force being equal. hope this helps. I think, but I don't know. never had a real job..

Write a letter to thank them for the opportunity of having the interview. Not an email, a written letter.

Regarding written letters Can you give me an example? Also should i wait the 2 full weeks before replying? Or should i act soon?

i usually send out a "follow up letter" thanking them for the interview and if there was anything else they needed to please call # or email.

i like to fax the letter instead of email so they have a hard copy without them having to print it.

I send and receive to and from large corporations and it's just the way things are.

Either way, mail a thank you letter. Few people do now-a-days and I'm sure the recipient will appreciate it.

Hassling them a little shows them you really want the job, I agree I think its a good idea to send a thank-you letter, but make sure you drop in a small suggestive comment - along the lines of ' ...and I really look forward to hearing from you'

What kind of security?

I worked security at a casino for a few years.

Its for warehouses, residential gated communities, hospital, and more but i cant remember. Pay isnt bad lile 10.50 an hour and im seeking graveyard so i can do some homework during freetime on while on the job.

Now facing a new problem which i think i have it undercontrol, ima have a swab test next week, i have this thing called ultra wash and its a small ass bottle costing 50$. Also i am going sober for atleast 5-6 days to insure i pass. Im a heavy smoker that been smoking for 6-7 years consuming .4-.5 of a gram per day.

If it is a mouth swab then don't even worry about it...last time I took one I literally smoked a joint and then went to put in an application..they needed people badly, so there was no application..just fill out the new hire paperwork and take this test...I passed...no teeth brushing first or anything...I dont' think swab tests work...or perhaps not well for pot...people failed for meth and opiates while I was there, but no pot, not me, or anyone else present at the time.
