What to do? Small grow area

you tie the main stem down at 90* then as it grows keep the main stem tied down at 90* the offshoots (side branches) grow straight up off of the main stem, then it's up to you whether you want to tie down the side branches.

plant should look roughly like this dodgy diagram about to be drawn:

o = base of the stem
--- = main stem
+ = Tops
/ \ = Side Branches
(ignore the dots)

TOP VIEW

.../.../.../
o-----------+
...\...\...\

SIDE VIEW

....+....+.....+
.._/___/___/_+
./
o

Something like that anyway... It's really not a hard concept to grasp...

so the mainshoot that has always been should now not be growing? out n up? cause my main stem goes 90, but than it bends back up

nvm figured it out......just dont think its gonna grow that much with the lighting i got...can't wait for a couple weeks when i go get new shit. Right now theres only 46 cfl watts on it

every time your leader gets to about 2", pin it down. i use landscape staples. try to get a spiral of main stem, to cram grow zone. use big pots. shit.......i feel like LST'ing now.

first time lst..deffinetly think i could do it better next time..and will, the top was hard n weird..probably why it looks shitty.she's startin to grow a bit better after being transplanted and than lsted, only recently seemed to get over the shock of that which was a day or two ago...anyways here she is..begging me for more lights lol..fourth picture is the clearest

yep, and that's how it's done, the only thing better you can do is tie it down with less string, not that its a particular problem, it just makes it easier to tie down and around the pot if that's your plan, and even then, only a little bit easier XD

And I'd tuck any large leaves from the main stem behind the side shoots (no need for string), just gets em more light. Looks like you have a few hidden tops behind some of those larger leaves (maybe my eyes are bad but have a look : )

yea its starting to sprout leaves from all the nodes now really..wish i had a better camera instead of this webcam...What exactly do you mean by tucking the large leaves? does it matter if their upside down n whatnot?

I don't mean twist them or anything, but when you get a side shoot, you know the stems that start coming off of the main stem (the bits you can clone later), the larger fan leaves tend to cover them up, literally just tuck them behind the side shoots. Can't think of a better way to describe it, either way it's not too important at the moment.

ill do my best :P thanks for the tips...seen a bug or two the past couple days....tiny one...one had wings..does it matter if its just one or two that you randomly see? i make sure to check the plant thoroughly n i cant even find the one that i had just seen..

if you can find them kill them or kill them when you see them, I had an abundance of black flies floating around my flat last grow, didn't do any harm I just killed them when I saw them, mostly they just come from outside to piss me off, keep a check on your plant and soil though just in case!

ok thanks, just gonna let it grow, hopefully in a week have some higher wattage so they can actual end up producing something lol..got a feeling the yield will be quite small.........if its a female that is

So just got a question or two having to do with buying some new equipment / equipment i got. Right now my equip. is 1 13watt 3000lumen 1 23 watt 4000lumen 1 23 watt 2700lumen, a decent fan but isn't oscilating.

So i need to buy some more lights and don't want to buy different lights for veg/flower, but doesn't 6500 lumen put out more electricity? how much cfm for 1-2 plants? I know the higher the wattage the better, but im going to try to make it by with a little less than i should have, but wondering about the lumens. would it be best to just have a bunch of different lumen bulbs or all 6500k (if its not worse on the bill) or what? thanks

and is using aluminum foil bad? i dont have a problem with temp. being too high, but occasionally gets a little too cold during its night period.

First off the 6500k is not lumen output... that's the colour temperature in this case 'daylight' the 2700k puts out 'warm white', you tell how much electricity it will use by the wattage not the lumens.

if it were possible you could have a 10,000 lumen bulb on a 60w fitting and it would use the 60 watts but that would be one damned efficient bulb shame it probably doesn't exist.

Doesn't matter too much if your fan isn't oscillating so long as it's not pointing directly at your plants, make it kinda blow on a side wall so your plants feel the effects but not directly.

As for CFM you want a fan that can replace the air in your room once every 5 minutes so we do a little equation:

Length (ft) x Width (ft) x Height (ft) = Volume (cubic feet)
OR
You could work it out in centimeters and divide the volume by 30 to get cubic feet
OR
You could work it out in inches and divide the volume by 12 to get cubic feet (don't hold me to that I work with the metric system, imperial sucks)

Whatever you work with, you then want a fan that can move that much air in 5 mins

You can work this out, I think, by dividing the cubic feet by 5 and that basically gives you the minimum CFM rating for your fan, any CFM over the maths is good too :)

LAST POINT! If you don't want to buy different lights for veg and flower try to go with a good mix say 2x 45w 6500k bulbs and 3x 45w 2700k bulbs (in my opinion this is a good mix and will give you a nice yield providing you do everything else right so second or 3rd go round you can be looking at 1 oz+ per plant in a small area : )

And trust me when I say that you can have a fair few CFL's with MINIMAL increase in electricity and I mean not even noticeable I had 250w worth of CFL in 2 chunky 125w units and they cost me pennies a day IF THAT!

I've been reading in a lot of places that 6500k doesnt do well in flowering? don't you need a lower light spectrum as well as a lower lumen output when flowering? or is it more the lumen per square foot? in which case how much is needed? 6500 lumen for veg n 2700-3000 for flower?
