You open a place like Cafe Klos, TTT and people will flock to it!!! Live the Dream!
Definitely man! There are a lot of that kind of thing in London, although from what i've seen, pretty commercial. But in my part of the cou/ntry, there is nothing. I just love the simplicity of the operation. There is no need for a second mortgage so as to buy fancy tableware, no pimping the missus to pay for fancy ovens and whatnot. I love the premise of places where you simply go out for good food, not places where you have to dress up and make an occasion of it. The whole eating around the central bar was fantastic, i can't think of a single place on this side of the country with that kind of atmosphere. The kitchen at cafe de klos was smaller than most places walk-in fridge, yet a man and a grill was all the place needed. Will be going back for certain come the summer. Wasn't a fan of the smoked ribs though, i'll stick with regular.

you gotta open up a seafood place tip..seems like whenever I check in here you're posting some killer fish dish or something. I can see it now:

Island Tip Eatery

BOOM!

man I don't even know what I'm goin on about
I do love seafood, as much as i do meat, but alas in the UK, seafood costs an absolute fortune, let alone line caught, fresh seafood. I hate the way trawlers operate. But if i did head down the path of a grill place, then it wouldn't be out of the question to have a few simple affordable fishy options. Nothing wrong with a grilled makerel! well, there wasn't, and then Jamie fucking Oliver went on his "let's all eat this abundant cheap fish" campaign and suddenly prices skyrocket.

Ma wanted healthy. Swordfish marinated in green dressing and pan fried. Quinoa with peppers, onions, tomatoes fried in balsamic vinegar till a sticky mess. Plum tomatoes. Alas my parents are fussy so was forced to nuke the fish. Got another rack of ribs in the fridge for later, going to try a different recipe, wasn't impressed with the last one, i cooked it slightly too hot, and used way too much cayenne and cumin.

Indeed, simplicity is what normally makes things good. And there has been so many successes with taking something that is simple and successful in one place and starting a similar one elsewhere.

I am useless at taking pics of food, after it's made it get's eaten. Last nights dinner was a fave of my wifes. Breadcrumbed chicken strips, baby veldsla (translated is "field lettuce", has a nutty taste to it - yes, I know, strange for winterime - but the chicken is warm). Baby potatoes, cucumber, tomatoes, chunks of "jong gouda" cheese, boiled egg, and then smothered in a honey and mustard mayo dressing! Eet smakelijk!

Mmmmmm, ham!

But: sweet potatoes are not yams ;)
Technically,you're right!.....
Although yams and sweet potatoes are both Angiosperms(flowering plants),they are not related botanically.Yams are monocot(a plant having one embryonic seed leaf)and from the Dioscoreaceae or Yam family.Sweet potatoes, often called Yams, are a dicot(a plant having two embryonic seed leaves) and r from the morning glory family.......BUT;)....They used to produce soft sweet potatoes that southern African slaves called yams because of the resemblance to yams back in Africa.....SO as a good ol' boy from the south u.s. a sweet potato is the same as a yam!...lol..peace brother ttt, keep cooking:)

Nope. Not gonna swing with me :-P

No cooking for me, busy with university applications. Only found out a day ago that I have just a week to go from start to finish. So much for going and looking around the campuses etc :-D tonight is tortilla chips with a jar of salsa and half a kilo of white anchovies I found in the reduced section :-) I bought anchovies and chips, had to buy some beer to accompany. Good old perlenbacher pilsener :-)

We invented food, we get to call it what we want!

You sure got grilling and BBQ,but leave the real cooking to other nationalities :-P just kidding. You guys have amazing food. What I would give to get myself back to america and to the southern states for some real BBQ. In the UK BBQ generally means burnt burgers and hotdogs :-D
