I am growing under around 300 watts of CFL's and a 70 watt HPS lamp.... some of my baby's leaves are starting to dry out and become crunchy. The temps arent too high and the HPS lamp is about a foot away. I am not over fert. either. Other than that the plants are very healthy. Any guesses as to whats going on?

Your hps is too far away, but this has nothing to do with your present problem. It sounds like a ph/nute problem. Ph your water with nutes. Do you have city or well water, if you dont have a ph tester, do you let it sit prior to using?
Peace

it sounds like testing the soil is a must do.... ill go out and buy a tester and see if that clears this up. Thanks for the info.

I had this a couple weeks ago very very mild and it wasnt the PH levels (in my case). Mine just looked dry. Once you go out and buy your ph tester adjust accordingly. After that give you plants a foliar spray of plain water just after lights off. This just gives a bit of moister and gets the dust and what not off the plants leaves. Naturally marijuana grown wild do get rained on 2 or 3 times in there life.

I have just always done any foliar spraying just after lights go off. Its more a precautionary measure. If just using plain water the beads of water may act as a magnifier while lights are on causing the leaves to burn. And if spraying some form of chemical, the Chemicals may re-act causing once agian the same outcome. I Just think its safer and see no point in risk taking when its easily avoided.

this is my problem then.... I spray the foliage frequently when the lights are on (at this point im still on 24 hour light) and this causes the leaves to burn? all this time when i thought it was solving the problem..... it was the problem?
