whats the max number of plants should I grow with a 600 watt hps.

2 nice big ones should fill a 4X2 tent.
I use a 600 primary and suppliment with some cfl's in a 5X5 foot space.
Whole idea is to entirely fill your grow space with vegetation., so you can grow more number of plants with a lesser veg period, or veg them longer, growing larger plants till you switch them to 12/12.
End yield is about the same, just have your grow space 75% full of healthy foliage when you switch your lighting to 12/12

Realy depends on wat your trying to do i generally run one plant per sq ft under a 1000 watt hps in a 4×4 area or 2 1000 over a 4×8 ft area yeild depinding on strain is rite around an oz a plant or 1 lb per light easy number to achieve for novice grower

With the 600 i really wouldn't change much jus veg until leaf tips touch and budd them out use pots bigg enough to fill up the trey fully.. i jus use soil and hand water if u wanted u could bust out a dip system.... also hdro works with this method jus need expanded clay pellets to put in the pots in stead of dirt and for that you would definitely need a drip system or sprayers

Try using some fox farm ocean forests soil next time i find that u dont have to feed them untill u switch to flower.... the nutrients in the soil is more than enough to vegg them up were u need them saves money on nutrients and they grow jus as fast once you switch you gona need a nice npk fertilizer organic or otherwise to keep them feed enough to produce the quality and density your after... a plant will only do as much as its most limiting factor in your case the lighting so your gona need to make up for that a lil bit by haveing great soil and keeping them in the ppm range the strain your growing need to produce quality medds

Theres alot more i can go into but here are some bacis for ya always can fine tune your own method from there but this jus works form me and other people ive turned onto this simple way of doin it

I understand anything over 100 watts per square foot is a waste. I'm working with 8 cubic feet of grow space, I figure that should be about 75 watts per square foot would should be better than average bud right. So far I'm still curing what I've grown which seems to be getting much better. Just trying to do the best the cheapest

Yea that will be fine jus lollipop them lil bit so your not wasting energy on stuff not geting light or good light your also gona want to keep that light like 12 to 16 inches away from the canopy if its an air cooled hood should b fine with and inline fan that close and you can get some fire outa there fasho

Jus do like 8 plants in the bigest pots you can fit that many in there get some good fox farm ocean forests or some happy frog and jus vegg till the leave tips touch flip to flower and hit them with a good feeding schedule you have some stupid good tree in no time jus keep it nice and cool in the like 78 and not hella humid and your golden
