whats the most common way of gettin caught

right just wondering on how you would get caught doing a grow so that hopefully i can think of a way to prevent getting caught

i.e. smell, i would get a carbon filter to reduce the smell

any tips would also be helpfull to me and any others thinking about this

1. never tell any 1 about your grow.
2. never order stuff and get it sent to your house i.e seeds an growin equipment.
3. never show you grow to any 1 unless you really trust them.
4. never talk about your grow on the phone.

Never show your grow to anyone unless you really trust them? Wrong. Don't show it, talk about it or anything else with anyone no matter how much you trust them. If you've been married a long time, ok. Otherwise, virtually everyone on earth should be surprised if they were to find out.

The other things you can do are basically be a good citizen. keep your house and yard clean, don't make noise or cause problems, keep a low profile. I see no danger in having anything sent to your house. Only the feds can monitor that and they aren't interested in you unless you have a big operation. Be mr Joe Average and don't tell anyone, meaning anyone, and you'll be fine.

Now what you do with it after you grow it presents another whole set of problems.

Had thought about starting a thread like this, been mulling over busts I've seen locally on the news.

Hands down, #1 is someone other than you knows about your grow. For some folks, this is unavoidable, but if you can be a 'lone wolf' for growing purposes, you've cut down on the #1 risk.

For #2, what I've seen for local busts were a bad wiring job or something not good with fire safety. Fire in the grow room, and a series of nasty consequences.

If anyone needed another good argument for making sure their wiring is safe and robust enough, that's it.

most common reason ive seen is either smell (easy to solve) or a tip off from public or insider but rather simple aslong as theres no smell and noone knows then there isnt any reason to suspect you.

what about if the police helicopter goes over and has infra red would it pick up the heat

and how could you control it

Only on big grows dude, this subject has done the rounds, if you are doing a small grow say 900 plants, am joking lol, a small grow would be like under 10 plants your under the radar and would be cool.

This may not be the most common way, but I've been keeping track of local busts as my homework.
One example I remember.

Dude owns a small junkyard, but grows for the real money. Been doing it for years.
Gets into some altercation with girl friend. Escalates into an armed standoff with police, and of course the grow is found.

Funny thing was his neighbors had been trying to narc on him for years, they all seemed to know about his grow. Police never followed up on all their complaints. So much for your LE following every tip.

Man in UK doing massive crops on a farm well out the way miles from anywhere, sets fire to an old caravan to get rid of it, caravan burns next farm miles away sees the smoke and call the fire brigade, they come with local police, yipp game over.

bragging about your grow is the best way to get busted....people say electric bills but people set up grow opss. they use a whole house or a shell house then they have like a 4000 dollar bill every month and no one comes looking....telling is the worst thing you can do. you can brag when your 80 untill then shut up

Simple.

1) Show NO ONE!!!
2) Tell NO ONE!!!
3) Sell to NO ONE!!!

If you follow those 3 simple concepts you should be perfectly safe.

So what is the chronological order of things after somebody snitches on a grow?

Does LE even usually follow up on a tip off if it's not a big operation?

Does the LE need more proof than a simple tip off from a crazy ex to get a warrant to run up in your house?
Just seems like a he said she said thing would just be a waste of their time if the snitchee didn't have some kind of proof other than their word.

The only people that know about my grow is my best friend (room mate), his ex GF who was staying with us untill recently(breakup), and the guy I have been buying from for over a year consistantly. Whent to school with him from elementary school up.
I kinda had to tell him because he may very well fill the Ex's spot in the house.
Plus I can cover all expenses for the grow by just selling a 1/4 ounce or so to him for personal use if everything turns out nice. Teach him how to grow or somethin.
