whats the secret to maximum trichome production?

I disagree... It is my understanding that a female can produce a seed without a male..it's called a hermie...a hermie will produce either femmed seeds or more mermies...here is what I think about trichs and resin production...
heres a freebie from a seasoned grower...quality over quantity any day!
Humidity also plays a role in plant resin production. Although some potent equatorial strains do seem to occur in high humidity areas, most high-test land races have evolved in drier areas, like Afghanistan. The aridity of the areas of Afghanistan where Indica strains have evolved is quite apparent by the trait of large dense flower clusters. This would only be an advantage in an area of low humidity, as flowers will mold in anything more.2

There are many examples of non-cannabis plants producing resins in order to protect themselves from drying out. The waxy coating on cacti and other succulent plants is a prime example.3 marijuana flowered in humid conditions will often have a longer stalk on the glandular trichome than the same strain grown in drier conditions. While this may give the appearance of being very crystallized, it will likely contain less THC than the same plant grown in a drier environment. Another problem with longer trichome stalks is that the gland heads are more likely to break off during handling.
You disagree? LOL read the bible by George 'Jorge' Cervantes... Did you steal that pic? If you had a Hermie it looks like a straggly Female on Crack! We are talking about Cannabis not Cactus.
Try growing a plant with no wind or fan and then do it again (a clone) with windy conditions or a fan.... NIGHT and DAY TRI production. It is like saying Males get you high

Your thrichromes are your sticky element for catching pollen. When a female is ready to reproduce, it forms the trichromes. When a male is ready, it forms pollen sacs. The pollen is released, sticks to your yummy trichs... And produces a yukky seed. It takes that female resin and male pollen to naturally produce the seed.

Strain is the real answer to your trichrome count.
What's with this copy/paste info we're getting lately??

Honestly, I had to scroll up the page to check whether I'd accidentally slipped into 'Newbie Central', and was shocked to find I wasn't!!!

Once Newbies get their foot in the door, you just can't get them out! Like a .. Roach infestation!

- Low RH during second half of flowering
- Cold temperatures during second half of flowering
- UVB light!!!

Some people also put their plants in complete darkness for a day or three before cutting them down. They claim that it boosts resin production. I do it, but I haven't tested this theory with two genetically identical plants (yet).

Genetics, genetics, genetics.... That will make the biggest difference. Regardless of how perfect the environment and what nutes and techniques you apply, if you don't have quality genetics, you will get sub-par results. Make sure you have strong vigirous and "PROVEN" genetics... Make sure the mother you are taking cuttings from is a proven winner... If you are popping everything from seeds, you will have to just run them and see how they finish.. If you are gonna do seeds, make sure you are using as stable a strain as possible..

Once you have good genetics, Typically you can use bloom boosters (most are sugars). I have had great luck with Canna Boost. The stuff is crazy expensive unless u foliar feed it.. I switched out to Aptus nutrients about 1.5 years ago and their bloom boost is another great one. I don't know how it performs standalone but it is great with the rest of their line.. I have had the best luck using FloraNova 1 part base nutrient with the Aptus line. I tried the aptus line with Canna, Heavy 16 and FloraNova.. Flora Nova was by far the best and cheaper than the others. Heavy 16 wasn't so hot, Canna was good but I found that I would have some strange leaf curl and such but nothing crazy.. The FloraNova really outperformed the others. Much denser flowers and generally a stronger nose as well. My guess is that there is a bunch more sugars in the FloraNova compared to the others....

Genetics is #1 imo, light type may play a factor (still out on that claim) but below are 2 buds from the same source/mother at the same stage, 1st grown under LED's, 2nd under CMH, not seeing much difference other than size but trich quantity is more or less the same. Lighting differences in the pics make the LED bud look frostier but they're both covered in trichs. Both are @day 47 of 12/12. CMH puts out UV, my LED's don't, not seeing any significant difference in trich production other than size/density of the buds are much better under the CMH. Jack The Ripper is the strain.

@rollinrawhide MH = Metal Halide, CMH = Ceramic Metal Malide, type of lighting/bulbs...

All i have to say is wow..research shows that switching to a mh at like 7-14 days before harvest will increase trichs and resins..I'm doing it right now and they got frostier over night...my boy fuzzybudz taught me that..check out his grows
Yes I agree with you... I think it has more to do with stress than the MH light though
