What's this bs about indoor hydro weed being superior to outdoor/green house weed???

Ok, we mostly agree it's bullshit.

Here's the F'd up part...Prices are starting to reflect the "hydro is better" school of thought.

Any thoughts?

Prices seem to have been this way around me as long as I can remember.

At least for my area:
-Outdoor strain selections are very limited. Indica dominants or very fast hybrids. And depending on the season, these may not even finish. We harvest when Mother Nature forces us to, not necessarily because it's "done". Anything goes indoors.
-All the outdoor harvests come flooding onto the market at about the same time. With so much supply it sells cheap, people buy lots of it, get tired of it and want to pay even less for it.
-Hydro is available and "fresh" year-round. If you're buying someone's outdoor harvest from the previous season and it's like 8 months old, you're really crossing your fingers that it was well taken care of.

Some of my thoughts.

That sounds about right to me.
Maybe outdoor growers should find better storage methods and not be so eager to liquidate their harvest all at once.

There are those that cure their buds for a very long time, so clearly they can be properly stored eliminating or at least mitigating any degradation.

Where I live the denseness of the bud is what counts (rediculous I know) and being able to grow year round due to mild winters outdoors crops are almost always sativa dominant thus fluffier and indoor is Indica and denser, all a load of BS, it costs more too, just a bunch of stoners trying to justify paying almost double in some cases for supposedly higher grade weed.

a question to the poster of this thread: do you grow hydro? have you grown hydro?
Yup. Hydro, nft, aeroponic, you name it. Organic soil tastes the best, smokes the best, has the most medicinal qualitites and is the stoniest.

It pisses me off when I hear some squid fawning over some 90 day wonder clone hydro and poo-pooing expertly grown pot from seed to maturity in soil, in a green house, that takes 5 to 6 months.

I guess this really goes back to the hype about hydroponic systems in the 60s.

It's a great system if you're short of dirt.

The best indoor yields I've heard about were indoor SOG soil grows.

I get samples frequently from indoor hydro growers. I enjoy trying the samples but soon return to my own. Something always seems to be missing.

Well said!
I hate to sound bitter (about the hydro weed...it's ok) but there are too many uninformed/misguided people who are fooled by the fruitier more fragrant (less stony) hydro clones.

Are canni. cup entrys grown outdoors? Are all the pictures of buds used by seed co's and mags. are they grown outside?
I think the biggest influence is the law, theft, etc... not everybody can have a greenhouse full of weed. Of course I would plant a field of weed if I could, and I bet most of it would be big and good. But indoors, I can still pull 1 oz colas in a scrog, and it's the prettiest, best tasting weed you can get. Everything is controlled, you cant say oh if it was prefect outside the bud would be better than indoor, it is never perfect all season outdoors, never will be. Indoors everyday is a perfect day.

Well all that said... We have NASA to thank for our indoor (I don't actually grow indoors, but still consider you my brother's) grow tech. I say grow grow grow, keep them buds aflowing. What I have found when you boil all this down, when you aint got no weed, any weed is good weed lol. Keep growing America, like China, lets put these Mexicans out of business. I do like Latin American people, don't get me wrong, I was not trying to be racist. See and that is what happened to weed, trended towards hydro, thats all, like the tide sometimes its hight tide, and some times its low tide. And now its time for me to stop, and smoke smoke ahhhhh smoke baby..........:peace:

The problem with indoor is that perfect isn't perfect.

For some reason some of the Cannabinoids present in outdoor plants are missing or in lower concentrations than indoors.

The most common complaint I hear is that the effects are shorter lived in indoor hydro grows than outdoors. This has been my experience as well.

Flavors are sometimes wanting, as well.

A close friend and I share our genetics.

His primary grow is indoor ebb and flow. While I'm mostly outdoors. We often grow identical clones in our respective grows. It is amazing how different identical plants can grow so differently.

Several years ago, I gave him several extra plants. At my suggestion, he planted two of them outdoors. This year, he has fifteen outdoors. for his personal stash.

Think about it for indoor best healthy way is organic soil. Outdoor compost manure and some jacks and generalorganics or botanicare. But outdoor good flavor higher potency maybe because the crystals thx gets hella power from sun? Duh!

Your right it must be all the clean, fresh, unpolluted air and water outside that makes it better. Especially in Cal.

i will experament in novemeber with a real hydo plant. Im going to buy a 5 gallon bucket hydro bubbler.
Hydro works well outside, so does cloning if you know what you're doing. I have 25 beautiful clones that were taken from my outdoor stock and rooted in pods, all outdoors!

Still, it's hard to beat soil outdoors.
