I'm always to practically, make real improvements. I'm thinking about trying some smart pots in my flood trays, and see if I notice a difference in performance. I lie the idea of them being able to breath and perhaps get more air to the roots between floods?
I use smart/geo pots....worth the trial I say. Maybe try a pot or two of coco coir too?!?!?!?
What if you increased yield 2 or 3 oz a light.....no matter how good it is it can always be MORE....RIGHT?!?!?!?

Thats usually how I kinda think. I had considered giving other mediums a try, I've been toying with the idea of using mostly course perlite. I've seen some nice results a few places for all perlite grows.
Is coco what you run GK?
Honestly 2-3 oz a light would be hard for me to even notice, I only run one light, and I harvest perpetual. So I rarely see a full harvest weight to make comparisons.As it is now though I get a rough idea of a per plant weight, but an extra 1/8-1/4 oz a plant would be nice thats for sure. I really need to get my second tray up and running to make the most of my light.

Yes, I run 100% coco with top dressed worm castings and insect frass. You chould check it out.....jsut a pot or two. No changes, ebb and flow whatever. Easy Peasy. Do you feed constantly? Google Heath Robinson and check out his ideas on low PPM daily feedings........

I love heaths grows man. He has several on here that I've gotten to follow as be posted them. Ill look into the coco thing. I used to feed 4 times for 30 minutes when in 12/12. This go around I switched it up to 3 times and I raised my water level about 1.5-2 inches. They have been responding well, leaves a generally happy and "praying". All the plants will have an extra 2 inches of good roots in the pots this time. They have aggressively filled that extra space over the last week is two.

PPM now 130 just tap water and ZeroTol (h2o2). Plants still doing nothing. I called Current Culture and Dan told me he thought the plants were shocked very early in their life, and they are now no more alive than cut flowers. Can anyone else verify if this is true? Can the plants just go dormant indefinitely? Shouldn't they eventually regrow? Not a good option for me to pull these 3-foot tall plants and restart. If I do pull them and put them in dirt, would they grow?
And, if I do take cuttings from them for replacement, would the stresses on the mother give rise to hermaphrodite-prone clones?

Restart with clones from mothers. If that doesn't work, a cup of gasoline and a pile of current culture stuff. Then I'm growing in dirt. RDWC nothing but problems. Some mine, but a big drawback I have found with this system is the size of the epicenter. This should be a very large tub, otherwise everything has to be trickled in and monitored constantly. IMO the potential of this system is not worth the headaches, compared to straight hydro. Anyone want to buy some slightly used gear?

So, an interesting side note:
I was checking which of the 24 tubs I wanted to tear the plants out of first and I started looking at the roots of the worst of the lot. To my surprise, they looked really good. Excellent really. Bright white, bi-fricating really searching. Quite surprising considering I was there to literally tear them all out. I think dumbing the nutes down to just water and h2o2 let them recover. So now I have a question for anyone who got this far in the post: Please! IF I FLOWER THESE PLANTS WILL THEY HERMAPHRODITE from all the nute/ph stress they've been thru?

I've done this twice in DWC. Both times the plants stayed stunted. Or more correctly one time stunted and the other was the weirdest mutant I have eber seen but I think had nothing to do with nutes (the mutation). Seemed like once in hard lockout they did like the guy said - stayed alive like cut flowers.
