i dont know i would def consider him a gangstar

he shot 2 cops and got let off scott free

I think the cops came riding up on him, but in undercover outfit and did not declare they were cops

2pac thinks its a hit pulls out his pissy and pops both of them in the ass

At 12:20 a.m., Tupac was running more than an hour late when he and his three-man entourage swept past a black man sitting on a desk in the entranceway of the office building where Quad is located. The man got up from the desk as two confederates (also black) came in the door, and the three followed Tupac and his crew to the elevator, pulled out guns, and hollered, "Give up the jewelry, and get on the floor!" While his friends lay on the gray stone floor, Tupac cursed at the holdup men and lunged for one of the guns. The rapper was shot at least four times. His manager Freddie Moore was hit once. The robbers nabbed $5,000 worth of Moore's jewelry, as well as Tupac's $30,000 diamond ring and $10,000 in gold chains. They left Tupac's diamond-encrusted gold Rolex.

Moore gave chase, collapsing in front of a strip club next door. His friends dragged the severely wounded Tupac into the elevator and up to the eighth-floor studio to administer first aid. Tupac's first call was reportedly to his mom, Afeni Shakur, in Atlanta; then he called 911. When the cops showed up, Tupac saw some familiar faces. Two of the first four police officers on the scene were William Kelly and Joseph Kelly (no relation), and "seconds later, Officer Craig McKernan arrived. McKernan had supervised the two Kellys in Tupac's arrest at the Parker Meridien and had just testified at the rape trial. "Hi, Officer McKernan," Shakur sputtered, lying naked in a pool of his own blood. "Hey, Tupac, you hang in there," McKernan responded, as an EMS team secured a brace around Tupac's neck and strapped him to a board. The stretcher didn't fit into the elevator, so he had to be propped upright, blood streaming down from his wounds. McKernan helped carry him out past a waiting photographer. "I can't believe you're taking my picture on a stretcher," Tupac groaned, flipping off the photographer.

Tupac was rushed to Bellevue Hospital. "He was hit by a low-caliber missile," says Dr. Leon Pachter, chief of Bellevue's trauma department. "Had it been a high-caliber missile, he'd have been dead." Tupac continued to bleed heavily all day, so at 1:30 p.m., Pachter and a 12-doctor team operated on the damaged blood vessel high in his right leg. At 4 p.m., he was out of surgery. At 6:45 p.m., against the vociferous complaints of his doctors, he checked himself out. "I haven't seen anybody in my 25-year professional career leave the hospital like this," says Dr. Pachter. Afeni, who had flown up from Atlanta, wheeled the heavily bandaged Tupac out the back door, fighting through a crowd of reporters.

The next day, Tupac made a surprise appearance in the Manhattan courtroom where his fate was being decided. He was wheeled in by Nation of Islam bodyguards, his charmed Rolex on his right wrist, his left wrist wrapped in gauze, and his bandaged head and leg covered by a wool-knit Yankees hat and a black Nike warm-up suit.

With his friends-including actors Mickey Rourke" and Jasmine Guy-rallied around, Tupac sat through the morning session before his right leg went numb. He then went uptown and secretly checked into Metropolitan Hospital Center on East 97th Street under the name of Bob Day.

Several hours later, the jury came back with verdicts on Tupac and Fuller: guilty of fondling the woman against her will-sexual abuse-but innocent on the weightier sodomy and weapon charges. A few jurors argued for full acquittal and viewed the verdict as a compromise. "There was a very strong feeling that there just was not enough evidence," says juror Richard Devitt.

"We're ecstatic that the jury found that there was almost no merit to these charges whatsoever," said Tupac's beaming lawyer, Michael Warren. He plans to appeal the sexual abuse conviction. Sentencing was delayed due to Tupac's condition, and he remained free on $25,000 bail.

For the second time in eight weeks, Tupac had beaten a felony rap. On October 7, in Atlanta, Fulton County DA Louis Slaton dropped the aggravated assault charges filed against Tupac on October 31, 1993. Tupac and his posse had shot two off-duty police officers in the buttocks and abdomen, but witnesses told the DA that Tupac and company had fired in self-defense after Officer Mark Whitwell fired at them. Whitwell resigned from the force seven months after the shooting.

Some conspiracy theorists leaped to the conclusion that Tupac had been set up and that the "robbery" was a payback for his perceived attacks on police; others concocted a revenge plot by the rape accuser. Tupac's lawyer fanned the flames, citing his' client's exaggerated suspicion of cops to explain his flight from the hospital.I The lawyer rejects the notion that this was a simple robbery: "These circumstances give rise for a reasonable person to raise an eyebrow."

I suppose you can fake it til you make it, and in this case he came out on top..but i still dont think anyone involved was a gangster.

The pigs that rolled up on him, his crew that hit the dirt, or him for simply "popping off". if you had a gun, and 3 homeboys rolled up on you, would you not defend yourself?

does that make you a gangster though? thats self defense no?

i mean those guys used to torture people in the studio, so I would call them gangstars and thugs

they made Dr. Dre sign away all his royalties on a threat to his life which he seems to take very seriously. that plus the fact they they were active in thier gang and beating up rivals

i see what ur talking about
but we all have different views , ok those musicians u posted are good at playing their guitars or whatever sure
but im not going to listen to them because i simply dont like the way it sounds,
i dont care if ur musician has 10 fingers on each hand and plays the guitar like better then jimi hendrix
he still wouldnt be better than 2pac in my view
i guess EVERYTHING is a matter of an opinion , it depends on what u look for in music i guess

See this is where it gets confusing, just because lots & lots of people like a certian artist does not make that artist a genius, all it means is that the artist meets the current pre packaged idea of what a superstar is supposed to be & is good at it,a far stretch from genuis.

The band "Hanson" was wildly famous for several years & it sure wasnt because they were talented, they looked the part.

The term genius is thrown around with rap stars, the mark of a genius is if the works they produced will stand the test of time.

In 100 years who will remember tupak ?

someone comes up with a piece, and im "strapped" theres no thought process, there's only reaction and the happenings after... you dont just let someone draw on you with out letting them know what they started? idk maybe its just where im from, but we were tought never to hold a gun on someone unless you were ready for one right back at you. now for someone who wasnt tought this same thought process who is still holding down a gun, i dont think it would take long to put one and one together...you've got a gun..ive got a gun...we're shootin, that's that..

I grew up with a guy who had his home invaded and they wanted the weed. he wrestled with them and got shot in the head.

amazingly he survived, in the hospitol

but a few weeks later he died from complications

but anyway i say its better to give them what they want unless u are pretty sure they plan to kill you or harm somone you love.

specially over some shiny objects or a silly plant that makes you giggle.

ok theres a lot of subjects i need to get on with tupac. tupac was indeed an intellegent man and he expressed it in a time where it wassn't marketable to show a taste in knowledge. befor tupac . gangster rappers befor tupac never really said it was cool to read alot, or take ballet because to them it wassn't "gangster". but because tupacs up bringing he educated himself and to us it was cool cuz he was the first person to show us that it was really ok to be yourself, or to be educated. growing up back in the 70's thru maybe as recent as the 90's, amongst black ppl in certian areas, you had to give off a certian image because it was a constant compition with eachother for food, money, respect, and power because we really didnt have anything . now as far as tupacs level in talent? tupac spent hours upon hours upon hours writing mixing and recording his work to the point that when we listen, it seems like its easy because its easy to understand, but try and wirte you will come to find out it really aint.also tupac talked about real life shit. things that ppl that come from where he came from and relate to. and most ppl who dont like tupac is because they dont come from or understand the lifestyle that tupac and ppl like hip had to go through in a time where there were not other options. tupacs thug image wassn't a persona, it was a layer of personalities. like i said befor in the streets one must conduct yourself ina thugish manner because ppl are always looking for signs of weakness which would result in one's downfall. and as far as his murder goes, the reason there was no witnesses or an ortopsy is because whever wanted him dead had there pocket in the las vegas police department. (this is my opinion because all the other theorys seem like bullshit) i mean it sounds like a set up if i ever did hear one. tupac was an icon, you couldnt just kill him on the sreats without anybody seeing you unless you pulled some strings with the police. there was no ortopsy because they would of found out who killed him. i hurd a rumor that the police killed him, but i seriously doubt that. it would of been this big ass mess like rodney king or sean bell type of thing. so that being said tupac was a product of his envirornment. but he was more than that because it breanched away from the norm and educated himself and took his carrer, his music and made it to where he wanted it to be. and for him ot have been dead for almost 20 years and we still talk about tupac as if he was alive today and people are arguing over if he was a genius or nor, or whether he was a thug or not, i mean in my opinion he's gotta be a genius because his name will never die and he will live after death. and for a person to accomplish this on a world-wide scale, you have to be a genius. think about how hard a middle class person has to work and think and plot to accomplish this. now imagine how hard it was for somebody commin from the ghetto. so like i said the man touched alot of ppl who were impovrish or couldnt see a glimmor of hope and he showed other that u can make it, because he came from the same place. and all the songs about killing and what not, i mean is somebody tried to take my life, i'd be really pissed off also. i mean alot of his songs are very poetic. so for the haters try and put yourself it the life of tupac or somebody like him. smoke a blunt and really listen to what he is really sayin, and you will understand a little more as to why he did what he did. so love him or hate em tpac is among the few who trully live after death and his music will live on forever even if you dont want it to.

Im seein a lot of different talk about how he wasnt gangster and he was just a thug.. but again all i see is assumptions. Sounds like most people should remember that, regardless of how it is where you live, some people have to live in an area where thats the only way of life.. some people live in a place where strappin up is the only way to survive. Maybe you think thats stupid, maybe you think its ignorant, but as far as i see it.. all due respect to yall, but not everyone gives a shit what you think, and some people know only kill or be killed. Yeah, Tupac rapped about killing people and rapped about drugs his fair share, but he wasnt glorifying it, he was simply rappin about real life. Im not saying Tupac was a saint or an angel, but at the same time i think he was one of the greatest minds to ever step on the set. Maybe rap dosent appeal to you, and maybe you like rap but just not Tupac, but if he was such a thug and if he was such an ignorant, blood thirsty fool, why is he so popular today? Why is there a arts institute in his memory? this is a bit of one of his songs thats been slowed down and thrown over a different beat.. this is tupacs true message in my eyes..

BS. you don't NEED to carry a gun to survive. many have made it without going down that path. regardless of where they lived. "oh poor me, i live in the ghetto. i have to kill people to survive." you wish. lolololol

ya it would make more sense for somone to take the money they would use for a gun and get a bus ticket to the country away from the ghetto, that way things and living expenses are still cheap and you dont have to kill people:weed:

but most these kids dont have good information, knowledge, expiriance so its hard to say "oh why these kids such dumbasses" but ive met many people raised in the wrong areas with bad parents and they truly are mis-educated

I guess that would make 2pac even worse than them cuz atleast you can tell he was well spoken and educated.

Now I heard that the South is where yo folks from,
down in the bottoms where they broke some,
whips cross a nigga back, way back,
and now they wonder why we act, how we act,
gold teeth and heavy chevys, and talking slow,
afros & loud ass Italian clothes,
People bar-be-quein in the front yard
