When to cut down?

Hi I have two Tahoe Og plants and one White Widow in DWC and in week 8,(should be a ten wk plant) I just cut back my base nutes big time and only added cal mag, and next wk will only be cal mag for the flush (I am using RO water and from what I understand cannot be ran alone) and wanted some tips on identifying the plant when it is done, here are some pics. The first two are the WW followed by the Tahoe OG, close ups with the magnifier are on the Tahoe as well. Thanks for any help or direction where I can go!

for sure 2 weeks left, you can run just r/o the last week. you don't want to run it without the cal/mag so you don't get a deficiency during the grow, which it doesn't matter the last week.
when most of those white hairs are gone and the calyxes have swollen, you'll want to start looking at the trichs with jewelers loop.

You could check the trics, wait for it to stop drinking (more of an advanced technique), wait for it to stop growing white hairs, or watch for the calyx to be swollen and the hairs to recede. It is rare for a strain to be ready in 8 weeks even if the breeder says it does. I had a Channel + that was done in 7.5 weeks once, but that just doesn't happen often and she was a freak of nature (it was massive and so potent nobody wanted to smoke except me). It is reasonable to expect it to go more than ten weeks. Listen to her, she will tell you.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg The white widow started growing banana's at the end of week 7 and I kinda freaked out and got a flush and chopped it. It was way premature but I didn't want to risk the Tahoe. It still looks really really good and shouldn't have any seeds but it had a few bananas then the next day was covered and I didn't want to risk it, even though I used a foliat spray of snowstorm ultra which should kill and pollen but I didn't want to risk it. The two Tahoe OG plants still look greAt though. Here is some pics.

Tasty looking trees mayne!

Question, and forgive my ignorance, but what does it mean when the plants have bananas?

Awesome work!

Nanners late are not too much of a problem. It is when they grow pods at week 5 that is a problem. At week 7, they don't have much time to pollenate or to grow a seed. It isn't ideal that they grow they, but it is VERY common for fem seeds to do that late in the flower cycle. After all, their main objective in live is to reproduce. If they are late in their flower and have not been pollenated yet, they grow nanners so that they can reproduce. This is their natural life ambition. Just pull the nanners out if you are concerned about it, but really, you can just leave them there.

Im noticing my farthest along plant is holding water longer than the others. Almost enough to have its own schedule. Same age but this one is flowering faster.

Calyexes are swelling, pistils yellowing and it's stinking. I have a scope, but I've never heard that the plant drinks less when approaching harvest. Good to know.

Hellz yeah. They will slow down and then stop drinking. I can look across the floor in the flower chambers and see which ones are close just from the top of the soil being dark from water. Three days after water, if the soil is still dark, she is close to being done. Or I can grab a scope. I have even used the camera on a cell phone and then zoomed in the check the trics.

Im so glad you said something. It's literally perfect timing. Thanks dude.

Last night I was talking to her like a recovering alcoholic. "Just a little drink, I know you want to."

Which is the meanest thing you can say at that point lol.

I'm glad I could help. It is one of the more subtle signs that most people forget or don't pay attention to.

I totally LOL at your comment. Thanks for the laugh!

Here are some pic's of the Tahoe OG plant that was picked (me and my buddy believe this is the SFV pheno, looks totally different from the other Tahoe plant that one we believe it the "Tahoe" pheno and looks more like what it's supposed to.) these flowers got super purple and looked further along then the other plant. We picked this one when the trich's first started to turn Amber where the 2nd plant we will wait for a lot more of the whole plant to be Amber (up to 70% I've red before).

My friend wanted to pick them both. He said it's better to pick the plant when the trich's first start to turn Amber , however I've read u want up to 70%. We are going to let the 2nd plant go longer(it's already been 1 1/2 wk's since chopping the last one) and check out the difference in flavor, potency, etc.

More pics to come when the other one finishes!image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg
