When to switch from 24/7 to 18/6

Hey guys, it's my first grow and my 4 little seedlings are about 2 inches tall and 4 days old. Should I give them a few weeks of 24/7 light or is it ok to do 18/6 or 20/4 now? Thanks.

I beleive it all depends on how big you want your plants to be. I started 24/7 light as soon as I put them into pots. I'll see how big they are in a month, but I may go for two months with 24/7 light. Bear in mind that when you switch to budding your plants will double in size. So keep that in mind. Do you have enough room? Either way 24/7, 18/6 or 20/4 will get the job done. My plants seem to be doing fine except for some Nitrogen deficiency. Mine are a little less then 3 weeks.

swap to 20/4 or 18/6 after 3 - 7 days i prefer 18/6 for veg as i think the plants need a dark time to build an use stored nutes and energy its kinda like a battery you need to let it use some power before you charge it up again

oh an ganjaradio its 12/12 for flowering m8 dankbuddz is talkin about vegin his plants

Yeah I got it. I was talking about vegin. I was saying you could veg for 24 hours 7days a week, or 18 light/6 dark, or 20 light/4 dark for vegin. Budding could be 12/12 or 10/14 (L/D). I've heard optimum is 10/14. But less then that offers no added benefit. Good lookin though.

10/14 is not optimal, not even close......your just giving your plant less energy to grow with.

i 24/0 until i decide to flip to flower. again, your just giving your plant less energy to grow . you get shorter and bushier plants on 24/0 since most of the growth during the dark phase is *stretching* growth since its growing upwards looking for light.

Are you saying that when I'm flowering 10/14(L/D) is not optimum? Because that's what I'm saying.
24 hours a day seven days a week is for vegin or if you want 18/6.

And 10/14 or 12/12 is for flowering (budding).

Veging-24hrs/7 days or 18/6

Flowering(budding) 10/14 or 12/12

I don't think you guys are understanding me.
I am NOT saying 10/14 is for veging.
I am saying 10/14 is for flowering.

We all know that the hormones that lead to budding need a longer dark period.

And that veging requires more light then dark.

10/14 for flowering will not make your plant bud faster or anything like that....if thats what your trying to say. Ask any of the veteran growers on her and they will tell you the same thing. if it had any benefit to it dont you think we'd all do it? lol. i dont think you understand how the flowering hormone works. once it reaches a threshhold it will trigger budding, adding more of the hormone once you reach that threshhold is pointless. you'd just be taking away 2 hrs of energy from your plants.

Canabis culture is like lawn care, everybody is an expert. At least they think they are. Doesn't matter how many books you read, you'll always find something else to contradict what you just thought you learned.
