Hi folks. I've had my medical marijuana drs rec. ("cannabis card") in California for the last year. Now I need to get it renewed, but I've also realized that since I'm looking to start a larger scale grow sometime in the next few months, (and I want to go perpetual so plant#s are gonna be gettin up there) I should get a recommendation that offers me as much protection as possible.
It seems these days, (and correct me if I'm misunderstanding this) that basically my "plant limit" works out to be "whatever I can justify for my personal needs". This is great as far as I'm concerned because well... I'm a pretty sick dude, (I have severe chronic digestive issues) and due to my condition I don't think its at all far fetched or unreasonable for me to have a few dozen plants (at different stages) and a couple lbs of finished stuff on hand.
The down side to this new plant limit system seems to be that if "things go bad" legally, you could end up in court justifying why your condition requires that you have whatever amount you have. With that understanding, it seems the best way for me to protect myself and justify a higher plant count is to have something official looking from my doctors (the people who Should be deciding what is reasonable for my needs) and not leaving it to the cops (who should not be deciding what is a reasonable amount of medicine, but I'm sure they'd try). In other words, it seems that if you've got more than the "suggested limit" of 6mature/12immature plants, its better to have a piece of paper signed by a doctor saying that what you have is reasonable for your condition, than to let the cops try to decide what they think is reasonable for you to have. I understand theres no guaranteed protection from this necessarily, (Its not like anything guarantees the feds wont lock us all up for our smokin our medicine anyway... lol) but from my limited experience in the industry it seems the more layers of semi-protection (lol) you can stack on yourself the better.
I've seen people around on this site and others that have drs. recommendations that actually say on the signed drs note that up to 99plants and 6Lbs is justified. I hear its usually just a matter of finding the right place to go that offers this and some places might charge extra if you ask for a higher limits.
Also, as I've actually worked at a marijuana collective before and had to verify other patients recommendations, I've learned its VERY important that whatever company or dr. you get your rec from offers either a website or 1800# that provides 24hr patient verification. ("um yes dr.... I realize its 7pm on a sunday and this is your cell phone but is so and so your medical patient and can you verify their medical marijuana recommendation?" LOL... but I've had to make that call... too many times) So for me I wont even consider a place that doesn't offer easy 24hr verification in some way or another.
I'm currently located about an hr east of San Fran. Anyone know of any good companies/drs offering this sort of thing in my area? I'd rather not go too far but I figure theres gotta be someone somewhere in the bay doing what I'm looking for.
In short, I'm lookin for a good legit place in the SF Bay Area to get my recommendation renewed, that will print a higher plant limit (i'm thinkin like 60-99 plants and 4-6 dry lbs would be delightful) on my actual doctors signed form, has some form of 24hr internet or phone verification and wont charge me too insanely.
Can someone point me in the right direction? and also, does my understanding of the current "plant limit" situation in California seem accurate? I've researched the subject pretty intensely and I'm fairly confident I have a good understanding, but I'm the kind of person that likes to keep my situation as legit as humanly possible, and with CA marijuana laws still being hilariously ambiguous, I'd love input from others working/growing legally within the system.
Many thanks in advance!
