Where (SF Bay Area) Can I Get a Recommendation with Higher Plant Limits?

Hi folks. I've had my medical marijuana drs rec. ("cannabis card") in California for the last year. Now I need to get it renewed, but I've also realized that since I'm looking to start a larger scale grow sometime in the next few months, (and I want to go perpetual so plant#s are gonna be gettin up there) I should get a recommendation that offers me as much protection as possible.

It seems these days, (and correct me if I'm misunderstanding this) that basically my "plant limit" works out to be "whatever I can justify for my personal needs". This is great as far as I'm concerned because well... I'm a pretty sick dude, (I have severe chronic digestive issues) and due to my condition I don't think its at all far fetched or unreasonable for me to have a few dozen plants (at different stages) and a couple lbs of finished stuff on hand.

The down side to this new plant limit system seems to be that if "things go bad" legally, you could end up in court justifying why your condition requires that you have whatever amount you have. With that understanding, it seems the best way for me to protect myself and justify a higher plant count is to have something official looking from my doctors (the people who Should be deciding what is reasonable for my needs) and not leaving it to the cops (who should not be deciding what is a reasonable amount of medicine, but I'm sure they'd try). In other words, it seems that if you've got more than the "suggested limit" of 6mature/12immature plants, its better to have a piece of paper signed by a doctor saying that what you have is reasonable for your condition, than to let the cops try to decide what they think is reasonable for you to have. I understand theres no guaranteed protection from this necessarily, (Its not like anything guarantees the feds wont lock us all up for our smokin our medicine anyway... lol) but from my limited experience in the industry it seems the more layers of semi-protection (lol) you can stack on yourself the better.

I've seen people around on this site and others that have drs. recommendations that actually say on the signed drs note that up to 99plants and 6Lbs is justified. I hear its usually just a matter of finding the right place to go that offers this and some places might charge extra if you ask for a higher limits.

Also, as I've actually worked at a marijuana collective before and had to verify other patients recommendations, I've learned its VERY important that whatever company or dr. you get your rec from offers either a website or 1800# that provides 24hr patient verification. ("um yes dr.... I realize its 7pm on a sunday and this is your cell phone but is so and so your medical patient and can you verify their medical marijuana recommendation?" LOL... but I've had to make that call... too many times) So for me I wont even consider a place that doesn't offer easy 24hr verification in some way or another.

I'm currently located about an hr east of San Fran. Anyone know of any good companies/drs offering this sort of thing in my area? I'd rather not go too far but I figure theres gotta be someone somewhere in the bay doing what I'm looking for.

In short, I'm lookin for a good legit place in the SF Bay Area to get my recommendation renewed, that will print a higher plant limit (i'm thinkin like 60-99 plants and 4-6 dry lbs would be delightful) on my actual doctors signed form, has some form of 24hr internet or phone verification and wont charge me too insanely.

Can someone point me in the right direction? and also, does my understanding of the current "plant limit" situation in California seem accurate? I've researched the subject pretty intensely and I'm fairly confident I have a good understanding, but I'm the kind of person that likes to keep my situation as legit as humanly possible, and with CA marijuana laws still being hilariously ambiguous, I'd love input from others working/growing legally within the system.
Many thanks in advance!

My understanding is that the 99 plant thing is only valid in one or two counties, and I'm not sure which ones. It's all gray area, man, and all discretionary on the part of your local law enforcement. There's nothing on the books anywhere that's guaranteed to keep you out of jail for 99 plants, and there's no jury that will ever buy that you need to smoke a hundred pounds a year. Proceed with caution and pretend it's still illegal, because it really is.

They've got a few spots in the bay. They will give you a 60plant limit, but it costs extra and they don't advertise it. You have to ask.

Yeah... I'm sadly aware of the fact that I pretty much will have to exist in "the grey area" lol. I think a lot of people forget that in reality, the feds COULD probably lock all us medical patients up(not that they would but they could). Medical marijuana has made enough of a difference in my life that I'm ready and prepared to dive into this "grey area", accept the risks that come with it, and hopefully make a difference in a community that's made a real difference in my life.

I'm aware nothing guarantees any real protection, but if I'm going to have more than the standard 6mature or 12 immature ladies around, I figure having a doctor say in writing that I need more can only help my situation if I get hassled. Also, the bottom line is that I'm just a sick dude, my intentions are good, and I'm not in it to make it rich, but to further the cause and help other patients. (and I really mean that :-) ) I obviously plan on being discreet and keeping any growing activities well hidden... but I've also planned from the beginning on doing everything by the book and having "nothing to hide".

I also completely understand that 99plants and having phat lbs layin around is pretty hard to justify from a medical perspective. But then I start thinking about growing perpetually.... and breeding... both of which are things I plan on exploring in the near future. My growing experience is still pretty limited (for now :-P), but I'm a scientific minded person who's got big dreams for the future and its a goal of mine to eventually be doing research with my grows and be able to make some serious scientific contributions to the medical marijuana community. And a lot of what I have in mind inflates my plant count without necessarily increasing the amount of useable meds I'm left with, so while I might not need a super high dry product limit, keeping me pegged at 6/12 plants just wont work for what I have in mind. In any event, I plan on also getting myself organized into some sort of collective within the next year to further protect myself.

DAN- thanks! looking into Thceval.com, looks promising. I've heard many places that do this don't advertise it, props to u and the community for passing on the info. (because otherwise how are we supposed to know?)

you tell them you harvest hash instead of smoking it. tell them you ingest it more than smoke it and that should do it for ya.

So I'll probably be making an appt with THCeval.com as I need to renew asap... but does anyone else have any info? I know there's gotta be some peeps in the bay with 99 plant recs... share the love!

Called the THCeval.com office in Oakland and asked the lady who answered the phone about a rec with a higher plant limit. She said they just did "regular ones" or something like that but she threw in something like "I think its like 4 or something" so from the sound of it, I may have just talked to the wrong person. I'm writing them an email, with the hope that someone at their main office can set me up.

I'm running out of time tho... my current rec expires soon and I'd rather not be forced into renewing without this plant limit addition... anyone else know of a place to go in norcal?

lol. They aren't going to put anything in writing or talk on the phone about exchanging cash for an increase in plant limit. I think it costs ~$300.

Dude. Stop. They probably think you're a cop. You're going to blow it for everyone if you keep going on like that.

Damn it. I knew I should keep info like that on the DL. Lesson learned.

I had a 99 plant limit, but that came from central to southern california. Just be sure to use all the excuses with whoever is writing your rec.
I can't grow well, I use it in a vaporizer so I need more, I cook with it, I make hash, I really have medical issues it helps with.
All those are reasons to justify a higher plant limit.
My current rec is not for 99 but I did get my Dr to double what he was originally going to reccommend, so just work with them whenever you get where your going. They will know what they can and can't do.

I ended up finding www.belegallygreen.com and I just got renewed and now have a 99 plant/5lb rec. (mission accomplished!)

Dang man, I hope I havent kept you from sharing info in the future. I've actually find I keep read a lot of your posts around here and you and others on here sharing the love/info has really been teaching me a lot, I hope nothing I did changes that.

For the record I was fairly discreet about the way I asked (although admittedly it was over the phone), and I didn't want to make an appointment or show up there only to have wasted my time when they didnt offer what I was looking for.

Also, while I kinda see your point (I agree there is a need to keep things as discrete as possible), I also kinda feel like if they aren't willing to talk about it (or dont seem to know WTF they are talking about...) then they probably aren't the kind of place I want to deal with. I understand that plant limit type stuff probably isn't something these places advertise, but if their employees can't discuss it with patients or are worried about cops dicking with them for issuing growers certificates with plant numbers on them, how does getting one provide me with any added protection?

Belegallygreen.com emailed me back within an hour. Their rep explained that plant limits are left up to the doctor and to let them know when I made my appointment that this was something I was interested in so they could set me up with an appropriate doctor as not all of their doctors offer this service. They also said that the standard fee for the recommendation was $79 with an additional charge of up to $200 for a growers certificate allowing more than the standard amount, depending on the limit decided on by the doctor. They also offered to make me an appointment the very next day.

The doctor was awesome as well. A totally down to earth but completely professional kind of guy. He seemed to know a lot about "the situation" with marijuana laws in CA, and he mentioned some relevant local court cases as well as the fact that he's appeared in court on a patients behalf before.

He asked about my medical conditions and a little about my plans for growing so he could include as much of that info as possible on my growers certificate to offer even further piece of mind/protection. This way it actually lists a bunch of my medical issues, and he makes a brief argument for why my medicine/plant needs are higher all on the same paper that says its reasonable for me to have up to 99plants/5lbs. I feel really good about both the experience and the organization, as well as feeling great about the extra little bit of protection I've given myself.

Now I just gotta get the rest of my situation right so I can get this larger scaled grow outta the planing phases and into reality!

Hey all you lovely green ladies... Get outta my dreams and into my basement!bongsmilie

all counties are different some have no limits so they recommend u follow the state guidelines and some have 99 plant limits and some go by square footage.

A recent court case has changed the way plant limits are viewed/enforced check out:

http://www.canorml.org/prop/local215policies.html

The top paragraph is the new part... looks like they updated it yesterday actually lol...

I'm no lawyer/expert, but think what has basically happened is the courts ruled that the government/cops shouldn't be able to tell you how many plants or how much medicine you need, because its medicine, what you need is what you need. Your allowed to have whatever you need for your own medical use.

It does seem like a lot of people think this means there is no plant limit anymore (which is crazy, and I bet why CA-Norml is updating things), but I think what it really means is that the staties/local cops can't lock you up just for having more than the 6/12 plants anymore, they have to show that what you're growing isn't just for your own needs, or that your doing something your not supposed to be doing with all those meds. and like Norml points out... this doesn't mean that they cant arrest you for having too many plants, just that they can't convict you solely because you've got more than 6 plants.

And at this point, the feds still dont give a poop what state marijuana laws are or how state courts interpret them (something that's hopefully starting to change) cuz to them, marijuana "has no medical value" (:finger:) and is its still illegal so piss em off and they'll lock your ass up no matter how many ladies you got, unless they think you REALLY have too many (99+), in which case they'll lock your ass up AND throw away the key.

in santa cruz the county limit is 99 plants. and if you go to san jose 420 evaluations for like 215-250 dollars you can get a growers permit which also says your aloud 99 plants.

The Santa Cruz law does not mention a plant limit instead they limit by sq footage (like everywhere should do). It's 100sq ft limit which I believe is per person up to 9 people, however you still must keep total plant limit at any place under 99.

It's actually to your advantage to be in a county that has a plant limit instead of sq ft limit because you can get a doctors order to supersede the plant limit then you have a 99 plant limit with no sq ft limit so you could grow 99 tree sized plants in 200 gallon smart pots with no concern for the space.

I was thinkin about that 99 FAT trees tho... and the prob is with most of these high plant recs, you still have the 5lb dried product limit or whatever they put down. So when you've got 99 12 foot tall monsters with 1-2lbs a piece on em... someone may suspect you're maybe going to go a teensy bit over your dried limit. Maybe you could make a very weak argument for it if you ran them perpetually and had lots of big trees at different stages, but I think you're still really asking for it. And at that stage I imagine you'd be getting pretty big, dangerous and greedy operation. But then again, 5lbs is a pretty sweet as is...bongsmilie

But yeah, Santa Cruz is awesome and has some of the best laws in the state. I think my favorite is Berkeley though. I know the city passed an ordinance stating that enforcing cannabis laws is the LOWEST priority for their police, and I'm not sure but I believe the only limits placed on plant numbers or garden size is that you can only have 10 plants that are visible from the street... and I'm pretty sure thats just a weird clause added for people in apartments growing on balconies or something because who the crap grows where its visible from the street? :eyesmoke:
