Where to Get Large Plastic Reservoir for Aeroponic System

I'm looking to build my own aeroponic system. I like the Aquamist design which uses a 20 gallon reservoir with dimensions 24"W 46"L 12"H. Know where I can get a reservoir exactly this size? I googled and found nothing. I know this company does not manufacture its own parts, so who supplies their reservoirs? If they wanted something reasonable like $150 I'd just buy theirs, but $500 for ONE is a rip-off! I can do it myself for $100 or less!

if your going to do a DIY system them i would find something close and go with that. no need to be exact if you are doing DIY. if you absolutely have to have that size then i suggest buy there system.

You can buy some black perspex and cut and make your own to whatever size you want. Even the pot holders can be made using a hole saw.

The frame looks like it could be made of PVC pipes.

Good luck with this, dude.

There is already a thread about replicating the Aquamist system >> https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/90349-replicating-aquamist-i-system-4.html.

I don't know why no one has found find out what parts they use and have not listed them here by now.

I calculated the volume of a container with those dimensions and there is no way it's only 20 gallon capacity. 24"x46"x12" = 13,248 cubic inches x 0.00433 gal = 57.4 gal, not 20. Aquamist says 20 gallon "capacity." Is capacity not the same as volume? So, I'm looking for a 55-60 gal tote about 12" tall which is IMPOSSIBLE to find. Someone please find out where I can get a reservoir approximately 2'x4'x1' in size...

The closest thing to it is this $107, 55 gal reservoir from EmeraldElectronic.com >> http://www.emeraldelectronic.com/store/proddetail.cfm/ItemID/588880/CategoryID/20000/SubCatID/1996/file.htm

Just go for the 55 gallon.

You can mod it to take as many or as few plants as you want. The rest of the setup is all still the same as if you used the 20 gallon rez

ALthough it might be a 55 gallon tank, you only fill it up with 20 gallons of res water.

You could jsut go buy a cheap ass 45 gallon sterlight Rubbermaid, for 12 dollars...

I found something much cheaper, nearly the size of the AMS reservoir for $30, a Rubbermaid 50 gallon Jumbo Storage Tote at DoItBest.com, free ship-to-store.

It is 24.4"L x 42.7"W x 18"H, just over 3" shorter in width. This is the closest yet. Wish it had a concave lid, though.

like I said, the 45 gallon sterlite bin is 15 dollars max. and. huge.
Sterilite*. I looked at it and it's only 36.5"x21". The Rubbermaid Jumbo is 42.7"x24.4", which means I can fit several more pot holes on the lid. I'm looking for the largest surface area possible to fit more plants per tank. That's the idea.

Quick question......is perspex sold at hardware stores like home depot???

Tried a bunch almost all of them leak for AERO. This one is cheap, heavy duty and doesn't leak. 26 gal is perfect too. I highly suggest getting another res for the water, say 18 gal. This will make for easier res changes if you don't you will wish you did once you flower and your tops fall all over the place when you change the res. If you don't I suggest getting a Oil Siphon from an automotive store so you dont have to tip your ladies. I would ScrOG it if I were you, aero tops get heavy. Dont veg too long or if you plan on that put sprayers thru the top of the bucket so they don't get clogged. Let me know any other questions, I have done a lot of trial and error.

Thx for your help.

Yea, I saw that tote and posted about it here> Replicating the Aquamist System.

It's actually cheaper at Home Depot right now @$12> Best Plastics 27 Gallon Strong Box Tote. Plus, it's slightly larger than the one at Lowe's.

I am impressed with it's sturdy design and concave lid. Looks perfect, just wish it was twice as big. See, if I used that 50 gallon tote I wouldn't need a separate reservoir. I would have to top it off about only once a week like SeeMoreBuds does with his Aquamist system. By the way, did you know that fool bought nine of those systems at $500 a piece? That's $4,500. Insane! But, I guess when you're profiteering about $1,000 or so per pound of harvest money isn't an issue.

This is just the beginning. I still have to figure out what size water pump I need, what size pipes and sprayers I should use. What do you have and how well does it work?

I seen some online.....but I guess I'm going to have to go see if it's available at the local hardware store....instead of using the tote lids that leak......cut some perspex the perfect size to fit in the tote and put something to hold it in place...that way no over lap....no leak......and I have 4 flood trays that can convert to aero if I put a lid on them.....the ones they sell are crazy expensive....

It sounds like you're building a variation of the same system I built a few months back - have you considered using a food grade corn syrup container like the one pictured? I have two of them I bought on craigslist - they're 40"x48"x24" tall. I chopped the tops off at the second horizontal cross member down, fabbed lids using shower style paneling from Home Depot and 2" netpots, wrapped them in panda plastic so they're light proof, plumbed the manifolds about midway down in the root chamber, and plumbed the return lines to the built in spigots. I'm nearly 4 weeks into flower, and the growth I'm getting is truly insane. I have about 24" for roots before they hit the bottom, which they do.

I realize they're alot bigger, but just thought I'd throw it out there since it took me a couple weeks to find the right container for what I had in mind. They sit side by side under 2 600w lights.

Lastly, I second the remote res. recommendation. My res. is remote with nothing but my feed line through the top and between the feed / return / chiller / air / power lines - it is a real bitch to clean when I change my res, I can't even imagine if I had 24" of roots on multiple plants to deal with at the same time.

Well, I have them in a 10' garage - but they can easily be cut right above any of the horizontal cross members that are visible in the pic - when they are sitting on 8" cinder blocks (with an added 4" base height), so that they drain into my res. the tops are roughly 32" off the floor - definitely tall, but they could be tailored to a smaller space just as easily, since they have to be cut anyhow. They ran me about $90 each
