My 2 MasterKush plants are 3 1/2 weeks into flowering, and have dense pistil areas (i dont know if these white pistils bloom suddenly into the form of weed that you smoke), I was just wondering if I can pick individual buds off early maybe in 2 weeks? Individually, i dont want to harvest. 1. Will it get me pretty high? (I can already see trichromes with the naked eye at every bud site) 2. I heard buds regenerate individually too if you snip them 3. I don't want to reduce yield dramatically. 4. IF I can cut some individual buds to quick dry and smoke so i dont have to buy untill my complete harvest, which bud sites are the less detrimental to pick at?

to my knowledge any chopping on your plant during flowering will put stress on it and reduce yield. I would not cut anything off until harvest but maybe someone can give you a different answer.

if you really need to do some early chopping take a few small buds off the bottom of the plant and leave the colas alone, once they are farther along in flowering the trichomes will be thick and it will look like it got dipped in sugar, when you pick it early the thc is not formed completly and it will give you a headache high more often than not, when the buds are mature peak potency is when the trichomes are cloudy-amber colored when you look at them under 30x microscope

So I take it that you CAN pick buds early and still get high...right? Does this mean that you can skip that whole DRYING phaze and just roll it up real quik and blaze while the rest is still flowering for a bit longer?

If you must take some early to smoke (and by the way this does anger the ganja gods) I agree that the little popcorn buds at the bottom are the best. Basically it is the trichs that get you high since that is where almost all the thc is. But again, it is bad karma to smoke any weed before it's time. You disrespect the ganja by doing so, and do so at your own peril.

true that on the headache high.

Be patient mate. Dont go hacking your plant up. You will only cause it stress. Let it mature properly. The quality of the smoke you will get from immature buds is nowhere near the finished product.

i always pick little bits to smoke during the waiting time between harvests.

i only take the smaller buds and they are always covered in thc and gets me high, better then anything around on the streets in my area

by doing that all you are doing is stressing the plant and that will effect your final yield. Weed gets more potent with drying and curing too. So picking bud early then fast drying it is just a waste.

yes you can pick smaller side buds off before final harvest however certainly no point doing it at 3-4 weeks into bloom, trust me on that.

I have pulled a small bud or two off before final harvest but this is usually at least 6-7 weeks in and usually just a quick test to see weather they are done for a final harvest.

In other words i let my plants trichs turn amber mostly as i like the head stone however if i pull a branch off 2 weeks early when the majority of trichs are cloudy i can get a feel off what the difference is.

Im curious. How do you dry or cure? And if you do. How do you know in enough time before its too late?

I just realized this thread is mad old.

I don't plan on it. Was just speaking with a mate who was insisting you could. Was questioning cheeze me's method.

If you say you're plants are 3 1/2 wks into flowering, if you harvest at 8 wks, that's over a month. How much do you smoke in a month? Say about an oz, that's alot of material to be taken off of some indoor plants. I'd just buy some bud to get you through til harvest then drying a maybe a short cure. Not worth it in my opinion. Good luck with your grow.
