which strains turn purple?

i was wondering if anyone knows of strains that turn purple? i see pictures of certain strains like dutch passions twilight in purple but then i see pics of it not purple. im very confused and dont trust wich purple strains turn purple. any help would be greatly thanked.

theres many variables to this. usually strains that turn purple have certain indica traits, or even plants that are bred with a known strain that has the purple trait. the key to this is to have lower temperatures during the flowering period. the lower temperatures usually bring those purple traits out. nirvana blue mystic is just one of these. greenhouse seeds the church is another one ive seen turn purple. theres also a product by humboldt county's own-purple maxx that will also bring these colors out. i have seen brick mids from northern regions be purple too. its usually harder to do this indoors unless you have a serious cooling system, which is why youll see strains that are actually called "purple" this/that being classified as an outdoor strain. basically if youre an indoor grower and you have normal 75-85 degree temperatures youre buying the strain name and the other qualities in the strain. you may get a purple color but its few and far inbetween. hope this helped you a little.

Granddaddy Purp is another great strain to have. Why do you want a purple plant?

The purple color largely comes from inhibited phosphorus intake when temperatures get down to 50 degrees F. or lower. Crosses that have a high percentage of strains that evolved in cooler temperature areas are less likely to turn purple due to being acclimatized and because of it are better able to continue to take in all types of nutrients when temperatures drop but when other strains from other climates are found in fairly high percentages in crosses, the cross will be more likely to turn purple when the temperature drops.

Cool temperatures inhibit phosphorus uptake causing a phosphorus deficiency in the plant and the result is purplish / bluish coloring.

you should also try getten like 6 bags of ice to put in your water bucket. my friend dose this on like the last 5 waters and it really makes em turn dark. make sure room is cold as hell when lights r off.

F13 Dj Short grown in tropical climate turned purple. First time I ever saw one actually turn purple here.

Yes, I can confirm that Killing Fields has a pheno than turns purple with regular temps grown indoors. It's also a sativa dominant strain, which makes it special in my book : )

anything kept cold enough will purple. even a strain with no purple parentage.
so really, if u want to purple something for bag appeal or whatnot, drop ur temp down at night. i know brick top is a genius on these things but i have to say even when kept at 60 F at night, strains will purple. thats what i do.

Some critical mass phenos will and Sweet Tooth is known for it's beautifull colors. This is outdoor though,but I am sure with a little work ST will get beautifull indoors as well.

I have some flash auto purple mazars that I'm growing out now, and I'm seeing purple on some of them even with temps of around 85 with the lights on and 75 with the lights off.

just 60F at night ay? have to try that one makes sense seeing how outside during harvest would be about that i guess (like tree leaves turn when it gets colder)

What if it's in the beginning phase of flowering and it gets real cold at night? Like below 60? Would that affect harvest?

I'm growing Querkle right now outdoor in hawaii, and NO PURPLE. Sure the hairs are a beautiful orange and the smell is amazing grape candy, but NOPE no purple in our hot Hawaii weather. I love subcools gear but no purple here.

Could be the pheno, because I had two that were very vivid purple and the other one just had nice hairs. BTW there was no cold weather induced on mine either.

That is a definite possibility but I heard i had a 1 in 5 chance of it not turning purple so I doubted the odds.... however you are right it does have nice hairs, really pronounced hairs on the querkle so I very well could have that pheno. Thanks!

For the record tho much much much more purple on my dj short F13. I wasn't expecting so much purple, and although the two plants look nothing alike in leaves, hieght, shape etc, BOTH are Purple as hell down to the stems.

but in the end I dont care about the color, I care about what im' giong t smoke. Since I dont sell pot I dont need the bells and the whistles, I just want a plant that is gonna smell and taste terrific and have an amazing high to help with my med.

My dutch passion hollands hope was verrrry purple.
