I think you are patting yourself on the back just a bit too much when you equate redesigning an L L Bean website as being the equivalent of something that has a measurable positive effect on people's lives. That would be like me claiming I keep the entire world alive because I make a product that ends up all over the world that people eat to sustain themselves. I just claim I am a farmer though.
I have never had insurance from Progressive and do not know what a "snapshot" is in any reference other than a photographic one. I assume its the insurance website that has saved the world from insurance related disasters everywhere. I don't watch television either, so I miss out on all the commercials that tell people what they should buy. I would barely recognize Kim Kardashian if I didn't glance at the tabloid section near the grocers check out.

Yep, farming is easy, you just sit around and take vacations all the time living the good life. After all, government is willing to pay me $2 an acre to let the land go into a conservation program for up to 20 years.
Imagine, more than $2,000 a year. A fucking grand sum if you ask anyone, why you can almost buy yourself enough food to last for 10 months with that. What more could one want? I can't imagine wanting to make the $2,000 an acre that growing food would provide, that would be like work or something, besides does a person really need more than a few dollars per year for a family of 4? Min wage you make many thousands of dollars per year, must be a fortune.
What do you make a year? $50, $100, $500.

As a professional farmer, i just stare sternly at my plants and they trim themselves. Then I take a nap, its just so easy.

ya know it is an easy calculation to figure out how long it takes you to cover your acreage once while sitting in your tractor, right?
Does the tractor know if the plow dug up a rock that is going to break a very expensive machine?
Does the tractor know that the east 40 has 5 inches of standing water in it?
Does the tractor know that the neighbors calves got into the alfalfa and fell asleep in the sun in front of the combine?
