White Rhino from Seed

Thanks all. I'm really interested in seeing how these turn out. I'm seeing a huge difference between some of the plants and they are harder to keep short and bushy compared to the Hashberry. Even with fluorescent close to the top of the plants the node spacing is probably double to triple what I saw with the Hashberry.
 
Quick update. My new bulb finally showed up so I tossed everyone into the flower cab.

I really wanted to get rid of the Mylar and just go with flat white but just didn't have the time. I want to get these sexed before I pot the clones I took last weekend.

As long as I get at least one, it's all good, that's why I took two clones from each. I don't expect much of a harvest since I left them in such small pots, unless they're all female of course. :)
 
LOL! It would be great to have all females! BUT Saddly it wont turn out like that! I go by the 1/3 ratio thing goin on! Seems to keep my hopes just right!

The one thing I've noticed is that the WR is much stretchier that the Hashberry/Lockdown cross I've been growing. It's going to be interesting to see how well I can control the height in the cab.

I don't grow a lot but so far I've had really good luck. I'd say in all my experience(just a guesstimate) I've had 10/15 girls. Sounds crazy, right? I've thought so too. Lots of bag seeds too.
 
wow. Ya Im only on my second grow. But my first 2of3 were males...I couldint deal with the pain of killing somthing I had babied for so long. So I got my Femmed White Rhino growing now : )

No Males. No Problems.

Hey man

i just found your grow and think you doing a really good job with the WR. I have just started a grow with 2 Wr,2 BB and 1 el monstre, the el monstre is a freebie from saanies seeds.I have had a few successful grows a few years back and gave it a break for a year or so and started again recently with bad results where my babies stopped growing once they sprouted probably due to classic beginner mistakes. I germinated some new BB and WR seeds from BDS seeds last sunday and they all popped through the soil on wednesday and so far so good....i really hope this grow gets going because i really felt somewhat frustrated and depressed when the one before that was a complete failure.I have been watching your grow for some handy tips and look forward to seeing through your grow till the end product.Good work techno brother. I started my seeds under 2 x5 foot 68w CFL's but today i put them under a 250W MH for some extra heat as its a pretty cold day today where i am and they are not in a box or anything instead they have their own spare room in my appartment so there is plenty fresh air with a fan blowing on the babies.... i might just start my own grow journal here and maybe you could let me know how they are doing, but i'll do that once they are on their second set of leaves and i know for sure this grow is going somewhere. cool anyway good luck for the rest...

I hear ya. I knew I wouldn't have heart to kill the plant even if it was male so I went for fem seeds as well.

Balls don't worry me. I've got these three flowering and I just potted the six clones I took two weeks ago tonight.

I'll keep one of the six as a mother so I'll have one White Rhino mother in addition to my Hashberry/Lockdown mother.

I'm starting to look around for some more seeds. I want to go all/mostly Indica with a knock you on your ass high.

That sucks, you should at least designate one grow to make your own seeds.

Advantages and disadvantages. It's great growing from clones because you KNOW they are female. It makes it real easy to have a crop in veg waiting to go when the flower cab is free.

Disadvantage is that you don't get to try as many varieties. My flower cab is in one room and I keep my veg and mother cab in another room. The veg and mother cabs are those cheap, white, pre-fab cabs you get at home depot. 24"w x 14"d by 36"h. With my compact T5 bulbs it's easy to veg and keep mothers in them.

I'm actually thinking about building out a new veg cab. I want to get one that's taller so I can use the top section for clones. When I do clones now I just stick my mother on the top of the cab since there's not room for it in the same cab with the clones.
 
Hey man nice journal. Really curious to see how your white rhino's turn out. I am currently growing a Green House white rhino myself. Here is a pic of her @ 2 weeks flowering (today)

Hmm. Good point. I may try to talk the wify into letting me have one of those cabnets. Im sure their not that $$.

I could just stick it back in another room. But shes the boss! So Ill beg her and get back to you : )

I think the cab was around $40. I replaced the really cheap/thin back with some thicker pressboard and wired up a couple of computer fans for ventilation.
