Hey everyone,

This is my first post although I have viewed/read different posts religiously over the past year.

I did however completely cover the inside of the tarp in tin-foil for reflective purposes.
these two statements exclude each other, if you had actually read a years worth of post in any forum you would know not to use tin foil

and this forum contains hundreds of grow room, box, and closet designs as well as diy carbon scrubbers

Riddleme,

First off, I never said that I've read a years worth of posts in forums. I merely said that I have been reading these forums over the past year.

Secondly, I do know that tinfoil is not the proper way to go as I believe it has been proven that flat white paint is the best for reflecting. Also, I know that mylar and panda wrap (?) are also good alternatives but I couldn't find either where I live. I thought about ordering it online but I was trying to do this without spending too much money as "the boss" (my wife) wasn't too keen on this to begin with, lol. Therefore, I used tinfoil as I am not a Professional grower and tinfoil WILL do the job.

Thirdly, I have seen many grow box designs but I kind of did my own thing and I didn't really find an answer on how to completely seal a grow box such as the one I built.

I was only seeking simple advice, not to be put down after my first post.

Thanks anyways!

Tin foil is fine if its stuck to the wall by the shiny side (dull side facing out shiny side taped to the wall).

You dont want the growbox totally sealed. The plants must get some new/fresh air.
I dont see why you are worried about sealing the cab airtight ????????

I like that it's bringing air in... I am just more concerned about preventing the smell as opposed to letting air in.

You must let them get some air and there is nothing you can do about the smell unless you have an extractor fan sucking air from the cab and blowing it outdoors but you must let air in and have it circulating some what. Plants breathe through their leafes and dont take well to stale air.

hey i dont mean 2 bug but this is really concerning me cuz i think its getting worse.. the tips of the real leafs not the cotyledons is turning a whitish/brownish color and one of them seems 2 be curling? any ideas what this could be?

Are there any other brown or rusty coloured specs on the leafes like in the middle ????????.
Are the leafes distorted/twisting/curling.
The pics are not that great.

i know my bad camera sucks lol they start in the tips of the leaf and work their way up til almost the middle and they are curling downward..

You know when you've been reading for soooo long you start to doubt what you've already learned?
Or is that just me? :bigjoint: Anyway, here are my 3 really simple questions,

they LOOK worse than they really are! If I could get 3 simple responses I'll be grateful...

1) Am I right in thinking that a plant will grow APPROX one foot per month during a 2 month Flowering Period under a 600w Light? I know there are variables with Strains and what not, but imagine a DWC set up, perfect environment and Cool Tubes allowing the Bulb to be as close as possible. If I take one month to Veg a Clone to 1 FT tall, will the plant APPROX grow to 3 FT tall when I harvest in two months time?

2) I've read that 100w/SqFt is the absolute ideal amount of light a Plant should be getting, so im worried about only using a single 600w over 3 x 3 Ft because thats only 66w/SqFt .....My question is, if I use a Cool Tube and a powerful Fan, will getting the Light much Closer to the Plant somehow "increase" the w/SqFt ? I know getting the Light as close as possible with out burning is good practice, but I'd like to know if lowering the Lights will get me closer to the 100watts per SqFt "ideal" that I keep reading about. I need to know what watt lights to stick with.

3) Finally....Airstones? Are they the best for DWC? Or should I just Poke holes in the Tubing? Both methods have their supporters, but from what I've read I favour Airstones because the tubing can eventually becomes blocked around the punctured holes BUT it can't be easily replaced. Im happy to buy new Airstones every Harvest, so my question for anybody familiar with DWC is.... Will a Brand new Airstone last a 3 month Grow? I plan to check the bubbles everyday and I'd hate to fish around for a blocked Airstone when my plants are 3 Ft tall !!! Will a decent quality Airstone last me 3 Months without blocking up and suffocating my Plants? Thanks, also, how reliable is the main Tubing in a DWC system generally? Does the tubing block easily? Or will the tubing remain 100% clear as long as you clean/flush it out after each Harvest?

Anybody with any input fire away !!!!

Hello my question to you is, I was told by someone at my local hydro grow store to keep my Exaust on 24/7 and just have the intake fan on a thermostat, they said that having the exaust on all the time won't hurt the plants at all....What is your take on this? I'm have a 8ft high, 7ft wide, and 3ft deep room with 8 t5 lights (2 per wall) and 2 led ufo's on top hanging down.

I've had the best of luck with my girls until now. All of the sudden, first the stems turned red, now the whole upper leaves are red. huh. any advice?
Sounds like a phosphorus (P) deficiency. Could be genes though. What growth stage are they in? What are your temps like?

1)if you put a plant that's 1ft tall into flowering, the tallest it CAN get is 3 feet, but sometimes it barely even doubles it's height, it's all about genetics, like you said...

2)it's ok to use a 600 watt in that space, i've seen some ppl grow in a 4X4 space with only a 400 watt light, and got a REALLY descent yeild...and it will probably increase the lumens per sq. ft., in the area below the reflector...remember light dissipates more, the further it has to travel, so by eliminating some distance between the light and your plants, will result in less wasted light...

3)i would suggest air disks, as they cover a greater area than, airstones or bubblewands...and a brand new air disk should last for longer than a 3 month period, just be sure to clean it, when you do your bi-weekly reservoir change...the tubing should be rather reliable, and shouldn't clog up if you know what you're doin', and be sure your tubing is black, or light-proof to prevent any algea in your rez and tubing...
