Mr. Gronn
you don't sound like james madison at all. you sound more like karl marx. If you think socialism works well then talk to people in Europe about it. they love that shit. So go take that shit back to Russia, and talk about the cold war.they love that shit. But this is America pal. America is a Capitolist state. For some of the people who signed our constitution it meant death, it meant thier whole familie's lives destroyed, they sacrificed everything for future generations freedom and liberty and democracy. we love this shit. So you take that Commie manifesto shit somewhere else pal. Its played out
Where did you get the idea that the country was founded with free market capitalism in mind? The theory of free markets would have been in it's infancy at the time. "The Wealth of Nations" wasn't published until 1776. So while, it would have been available during the drafting of the constitution, it wouldn't have had any influence on the years leading up to the revolutionary war as you imply. I personally think that the founders would be disgusted that dudes like you actually believe that they risked it all so large unaccountable corporations could run our country.

Before you fire back at me with all that marxist, socialist bullshit, let me point out that I'm not arguing for a communist state. I'm planning on voting for Paul. I just argue that America has morphed into a capitalist state and hasn't been that way since it's inception.

thats what it is.The system is broken. Our tax code is way too long and out of date. And if you look back I said our country was founded on the ideas of freedom, liberty and democracy. If you don't like democracy then go move to North Korea

I'm a libertarian and sevenhourworkweek is a socialist. Complete opposites. We are not implying the same thing. You must be mistaken.

So you argue using bureaucrats to make sure bureaucrats stay out of it? Do you think it is easier to enforce regulation after regulation than to keep our government out of the way?
That's an excellent observation. I don't think it will be easy at all. That's why I'm not crazy about the Free Market as defined by economists. It's too idealistic and it's failed everywhere it's been tried. Friedman's own students went to Chile in the sixties to work with Pinochet to set it up and it resulted in extreme poverty and unemployment. Some argue that it failed because Pinochet was a brutal dictator who murdered his opposition, others say it's because they never privatized the copper industry. Whatever. Bottom line is that it failed.

But yeah, to have a true free market you'd have to get rid of nearly all current regulations and set up new ones. The new ones would be fewer but potentially more difficult to enforce. The idea is to keep everyone in honest competition and prevent market manipulation. We actually have an agency that's supposed to do that now, the SEC. As is the norm in this country, they are in bed with the industry they're supposed to be regulating.

Goddamn it. I knew you'd pull that shit! "If you don't like Democracy go move to North Korea." If you're so in love with democracy, why don't you move to Switzerland? they have a direct democracy rather than a representative democracy.

Yep. Don't need to look further than Bernie Madoff to find that out.

Like I say time and time again all over these boards: Stop paying attention to what people are saying and start looking at what they are actually doing.

The whole premise of this thread is stupid and ignorant. Obama is not a Marxist, he is a capitalist, and to the RIGHT of Bush. His words have nothing to do with his actions. Look at his policies. They are simply a continuation of his predecessor's legacy. You are seeing what happens when a right winger is in charge... disaster.

Obama is a self-professed socialist, and he should drop out so Hillary might have a chance to win.

You are just as blind as the Obama supporters. Stop taking his words on blind faith. Look at his actions. I'm telling you, I'm a Marxist, and his policies have NOTHING to do with socialism.

Obama should go to jail for having an American citizen murdered. Terrorist or not, he was denied due process.

I voted for him BTW
