why 5000k is better.

why 5000k you may ask? why not 2700k or 6500k, like every one has been told?? well because advancement our tech is constantly advancing an so has our knowledge in creating efficient useful light. so what make the 5000k better? its composition of phosphors is what!

in essence the goal of all light bulb(lamp) manufacturers is to create the desired light emission and source(product) using the cheapest amount of materials. to create 6500k light it is a simple matter, as is 2700k light, when using those phosphor compositions. but a simple mix of half 2700k and half 6500k will get you the best of both worlds, with the same amount if yellow light phosphor. therefore offering you the most PAR available per light.

some info to back me up

the different phosphors and the light they emit

5000k t5 tube spectrum, note red peak is at 630 nm. colors on chart are not accurate but pretty close
View attachment 2488367

3000k(once again peak is at 630nm
spd2.jpg
6500k("red" peak is closer to 600nm blue peak is 460nm)
ge-Starcoat.jpg
(also not not that the INTENSITY is not relevant these chart show the ligh produced in ratio to the other light)

optimal combination, would be 6500k and 5000k for veg and 2700k and 5000k for flowering. so many options with fluorescents:D

It applies to ALL LIGHT.
there it is, it applies to all fluorescent lights.

in relation to how this applies to tube size, t2 and t4 being CFL, the smaller the tube the greater the peaks will be and the color will be less spread across the spectrum. when the tubes are larger such as t8 and t12 the spectrum of energy produced from the phosphors is much more even, a great example are these 5000k tubes.

mh is another story as ive told another 5000k MH is about the worst MH there is, the chemicals and function of HID operate way different. for MH there are some good bulbs out ther but the 2 of the best being the 4000k for flowering and the 7500k for veg

Yea it came with my ballast and I just put it away for a emergency if a bulb breaks or burns out. I always like to be prepared.

I run 5000k in my cfl veg setup.

I had read about mixing the 2700k with either the 6500k or 5000k, to veg, and since I already had a couple 2700k, I tried it, with 2700k and 5000k and liked it, though I had nothing to do a side by side with.

5000k works well in both veg/flower in cfl setups. It's the perfect ratio on both spectrums. A few PLL's are bomb in that spectrum.

Gotta BIG BALLZ Question..IDC who replies as long as its HONEST ..i got 3 fixtures..a 8 bulb bad boy for Veg...a 16 bulb bad boy for Bloom..and a 4 bulb for side lighting..my question to you PROS of this style of lighting is..What TOTAL bulbs would you buy for ALL these fixtures..and HOW would u SETUP the bulbs in these fixtures..i hear this and that..but with all the uvl and super actinic and redsun.IDK WHERE TO SPEND MY FYCKIN MONEY AT AND ON WHAT..lol so if you PROS could..guide me to the CORRECT purchase of lights for these fixtures..fyi i wanna buy 2 sets for EACH FIXTURE just need to know what bulbs and how to spacem and etc..ANY POSITIVE HONEST knowledge is well appreciated.

Ya, I've got 2 of the 5000k's hanging above, and I can't tell for sure, but the buds closer to those seem to be a little nicer than the ones by the 2700k's I have.

You want a mixed spectrum. If your running cfls, then I'd highly suggest running a 3:1 ratio during veg and then flip that in flower. So during veg every 3 5000k bulb you want 1 2700k. Just make sure your ratio's are the same.

I'd run the side lights and your 8 bulb during veg and then in flower flip all 3 all.

Take a look at a good friend of mine on here's thread, he has a great spectrum on t5 and his girls are loving it.

in the 16 bulbs, i would run florasun(5000k), redsun(or color max or 2700k), florasun(5000k) and aqausun(or any 10000k for that matter) in that order repeating for flower.

than in veg i would use (8 bulb) x4 florasun x4 aquasun(1000k)

side lighting in bloom i would use x4 of these
http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=6016+6028+19108+25696&pcatid=25696

so thats a total of

x12 5000k(agrosun is cheap and good with a 5400k rating)
x4 2700k(any brand)
x8 10000k(once again agro sun makes a good cheap bulb)
x4 retile UVB lighhting for side lighting.(this about the only brand you have to specifically buy, to produce UVB light)

ebay, dr. fostersandsmith, petmoutain.com, and horticulturesource are my favorite places to go shopping for T5 bulbs.
