Dont you fools get it we live in a capitalist society. Why shouldnt he try to make a good living for his family? I f he can sell them for a high price good for him I don't have to buy them.

Deep purple isn close to as good as blueberry, ive grown nearly all of subcools offerings and the deep purple was by far the , slowest vegging plant ive ever gotten, the potency was weaker than the querkle he offers and the flavour imo is not as good either, its just more uniform in urkle pheno's which grow like mollasses. Dj is a private breeder and has been breeding longer than most, if he wanted to go commercial mass production he could've been like dinafem and greenhouse or nirvana and outsourced his seed production. Best guess is he keeps it limited an duses the tools he knows/crafted himself.
im more of a grape fan anyways, always have been, i like the strains that dont appeal to 90% because that same 90% are all probably growing and smokin the same shit. I can admire the time DJ has been breeding but i do not admire that hes only used a few strains to build his likeness. I mean what are all of his strains comprised of merely than thai/afghan/oaxacan?

not much. You'd think hed travel somewhere other than thailand afghanistan and mexico to find seeds... but thats a different story

that's what u make yourself believe when ur spending all that cash ...believe what u want ..@ omg indica man

People start throwing botany words around and people eat this shit right up .."IBl" "poly hybrid" etc etc ..Makes u sound smart .and right after u sound smart people start to lose u and so "oh well he must kno what he's talking about " ..smh

I could careless what someone wants to charge for there seeds I don't have to but them ..but I do care when people come on here tryna justify the high prices with bullshit claims ...

Dj short bb is used is SO many strains today ..and anybody that has few real blueberry knos the shit is a Alien and throws mutat plants and mutations regularly ..don't tell me I'm paying 150$ for that shit ..ur "IBl"

I don't kno why some people choose to charge so much ..I think it's a defensive measure ..just don't kno for who ??? Cause at that price I will not be buying them ..so I guess it's to stop me lol
blueberry is bred using thai genetics, thai is notorious for hermaphrodite traits. "ibl" would mean inbred line, as in, bred into itself successively for multiple generations(4+) usually f4's and further are considered ibl's when they are selected generation after generation to dislplay the desired traits of their breeders liking, in blueberry's case, its clearly the blueberry odor and taste. Personally, i prefer the hybrids of blueberry as the hermaphrodite trait can be taken care of, many hybrids ive grown usin gthe blueberry male pass on it ssmell successfuly (stability offered through its consistent inbreeding selection) which makes dj's blueberry all the more desireable for breeding purposes because of the very traits it passes. Ive bred using polyhybrids and the offspring are all over the place, unstable and generally not uniform, its much different than breeding with true-breeding ibl's. I could explain th eimportance of this more but its pretty redundant at this point. The reason breeders like sannie haveso many killer hybrids is because he has timetested ibl's like his jack herer, herijuana, killing fields, shiva, blueberry.

Dude, ive got a cambodian landrace goin gin my tent right now indoors, been flowerin gfor close to 15 weeks, still isnt finished. Got it from delta 9 labs, its called 'mekong haze', i used cs to reverse its sex about week 8 into flower and its got hundreds of s1 seeds and f1's with a 10" super crystal clone i have growing under it, i had to super crop it almost every week because it can hardly fit in the 6' tent its growing in, i wouldnt recommend growing landraces as they are a bitch to grow and a test of patience for someone like me who prefers indicas. I figure it will be done in 2 weeks, i got one cola unpollinated that ill make smoke report for, if it isnt what its cracked.up to be then i wont grow another 100% sativa again for a long long time. The f1's are what ive waited this last 5 months for lol, pure indica x pure sativa all feminised :)

Because he doesn't release that many packs a year. A story straight from DJ short's mouth to my ears...the only time he ever met Arjan, Arjan said to him "you have a small operation right? What like 60,000 packs a year?" Arjan thinks 60k packs of seeds is small. DJ releases 15k packs a year. Supply and demand. Less packs=more money.

yeah you should have a winner there, kinda sounds similar to the raspberry cough strain nirvana made its a real good smoke i believe its cambodian landrace x ICE, yours sounds very similar, the hybrid should make it able to grow indoors with an easier timeframe in minde, but im more referring to an f1 consisting of 2 landraces and not an indoor landrace/skunk f1

@ omg man I kno what a IBl is ..f1,f2,f3 s1 etc ..lol ..I was saying u might lose other people with that fancy talk ..and idk if f4 is IBl status ...I don't even like the word IBl never grew one ..grew alot of STABLE strains but the all there diffeent taste or smells ..it might grow similar for a long time but it's not the same ..

IBl - deep chunk ..it was already a inbred strain selected over time ..it's consistent ..an I don't even think they label deep chunk as a IBl ..but it would dominate all all crosses ..so it breeds true ...

True breeding -should be the baseline for ibls ..not just inbreeding for generations

Also breeding with the blue berry male still tosses mutants ..I jus grew a BB headband from ET seeds and it was a mutant ..from day 1 ..I flowered it was some decent smoke ..but threw a major curve every 3rd leaf ..

why? supply and demand. the going rate for good genetics now is over a 100 bucks per pack. Dj is at the top of the list of breeders. just not much more then that to it? You want his stuff pay for it. Get a pack and clone the hell out of a good plant and you will see why a pack isnt a big deal...take consideration the cost to get into the game,,,,,,lights, elect, pots, soil, time etc. you still have a problem....then go lesser name adn you should still find some good choice plants....like a ford vs. a bmw. they both have 4 wheels, engine etc.....

price gouging/monopoly only an asshole would take his time to go to an online dictionary to prove he can distinguish the difference between the 2
I took the time to post the definition for you, because had you understood the word monopoly you would not have said in a lone paragraph "kinda seems like a monopoly, it's not that hard to put a production room into full scale seed and thats many seeds". Ease of production, or the level of difficulty to do so is not a monopoly, not even kinda.

My reply was not arrogant, you apparently are upset.

true passion does not = $, ask jesus
You just rationalize for the sake of your argument. The point made was that many who buy genetics from DJ do so because of him, and not only because of his genetics, but also because of how involved he is openly, in print, in public about genetics. Chimera and Bodhi are others that come to mind that fit in that niche.

As for giving back to the community, DJ is from Michigan, last week he gave a workshop at a dispensary in Ann Arbor and it was free. Barney who? Arjan what?

Are you equally frustrated that fast food joints make more profit off of pop than other items on the menu? Shouldn't pop cost less to reflect how cheap and easy it is to make?

Just had a talk with Jesus, he wanted me to point out that in all of your posts here you haven't claimed to have grown any of DJ's genetics yourself.

Not upset, just having to explain apples are not oranges to fools that will never understand is my specialty but i digress, the purpose of this thread was to point out the greed of seed companies... one in particular, now you say im the one who's personally offended? I think not Sir!

Dont stir up shit if you cant sift through the corn

For the record it wasn't free, it was only free if you had attended before. But it was only $30 for first timers. Was my 4th.

Thanks for clearing that up. I heard from those that attended that it was well worth their time.

Curious why the op has singled out DJ exclusively, all of his strains are under $130 for ten regs. Why not gripe about Dr. Greenthumb with his 5 fem seeds for $150, or 2 fem G13 for $200. Doggies Nuts Seeds are crazy priced, 2x or 3x DJ's prices. The Doggies Nuts Seeds Armageddon x Sirius Skunk is $740.92 for 10 fem beans, 10 regs cost $428 but they're sold out.

The thread is titled Why Are DJ Shorts Genetics So Expensive. OP have you grown his genetics? Disappointed with them? Were they not worth the money? What's up?

I've done blueberry descendants like lowberry from dutchbreed, im working autos and would like to bring dutchbreeds lowberry a gen 2 auto to gen 3 before making a final fourth cross to another genotype, im just trying to lock down more blueberry to be available in the final cross aswell as being an autoflower, i plan on purchasing a 10 pk of cocoa kush and vanilluna, select for variegated phenotypes cross the the lowberry inbreed til full auto then make my final cross. Im sure for my purposes they are worth they money, as i would probably pay double(but dont tell him that) I see DJ as being the most overrated for the price, i think the ratio of quality : price is way out of whack and that seeds shouldnt cost the customer more than 3$ per, not because i can't afford the more expensive seeds, but because i know there are people out there that can barely afford their medicine. and with people like dj charging and arm and a leg to people that literally dont have an arm or a leg seems morally unjustifiable, i hope this in depth explanation of my purposes satisfies your quandries

humbly yours,
your bitch
