Why are so many growers against gun ownership?

That's a good point. Something like a mandatory firearms safety course or the equivalent of a driver's license would make sense, but most of the purists would consider that unconstitutional I would imagine. What do you guys think? There aren't that many words in the second amendment, so most of it would be up to interpretation. Most gun owners I know are very responsible and safety minded, but I've come across a lot of idiots

And I'm not sure kids need less math or actual school....you know, education and stuff. Exactly the opposite actually. I don't think you can teach common sense in a classroom.

And also, basil marceaux does raise a good point about nutcases owning guns. The second amendment doesn't make exceptions for the mentally ill, so are laws that prevent them buying guns unconstitutional...?
I'm not a lawyer so I don't know the constitutionality of barring mentally ill persons from owning guns. I don't think anybody wants nutcases owning guns. What is a nutcase though? This becomes a slippery slope argument really quickly and could easily be used as a means for denying people their 2nd amendment rights. Do we prevent "nutcases" from owning cars, chainsaws, kitchen knives? People forget that there are many other dangerous implements that kill as effectively, if not moreso, as a gun. I'm pretty sure the state I live in has some provision barring the mentally ill from obtaining a concealed carry permit.:joint:

Okay. I can accept that.

But whenever someone in the opposition pulls out ole Basil, the goal is usually to discredit Conservatives.

Nice job on Traficant. My turn!

On the Right we must contend with Sarah Palin. Ugh!

I need not present an example for her because you know plenty, I am sure.

Palin the politician is much more hazardous to the Conservative movement than she is to the Left. I prefer Sarah the cheerleader. Cheerleaders give good head.

At least we don't have Congressman Hank Johnson who worries that additional military personnel being deployed to Guam will tip over and capsize the island.

Yeah, that guy is wild. He claims to have not meant it literally and that he was taking pain meds at the time, but I'm not sure I buy that. I like the navy guy's response: 'we don't anticipate that that will happen".

And you're right about palin. Conservatives don't need really need basil marceux to discredit them, it's just icing on the cake for us smug, elitist liberals... :bigjoint:
Sarah and her fans are all it really takes:

Abe, the second amendment isnt very many words, but it is pretty clear what they meant. I doubt anyone really believes it is anything but what it is.

" A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. "

They would not pass a bill to make sure the government had the right to have a military. "The people" is used repeatedy during the Constitution, and it always means the individual people of the country. So we know that means everyone. So everyone has the right to bear and keep arms, and noone is allowed to take it away.

Militia are always citizen armies. The term militia (pronounced /mɨˈlɪʃə/[1]) is commonly used today to refer to a military force composed of ordinary citizens[2] to provide defense, emergency law enforcement, or paramilitary service, in times of emergency without being paid a regular salary or committed to a fixed term of service.

Citizen armies are necessary to the security of a free State, and the people of the country have the right to keep and bear arms and noone can take that away.

The security of a free state means without individual citizens being allowed the right to bear arms and fight the country would no longer be secure. They knew that it would be internal forces as well as external, that without the people actively being able
to control the government it would become uncontrollable and turn into the very thing that this country was founded for (that was freedom from oppression if you didnt know)

So it more or less reads:

The people have guns so that the government cannot turn into something like Soviet Union in the 40s and control the people by force.

We have more laws every year. I never see any laws taken off really, only one or two. Do you think they will stop making laws? No, they wont stop making laws even when humanity is completely safe and everyone is exactly the same. In other words until we are all so fucking neutered that we dont even have the will to fight. God, I think that may be hell.

Jesus Christ, I never actually watched that clip of him talking about Guam tipping over. LOL. Who the fuck voted for this guy? Jesus christ. That guy is leading our country? Id vote for a Kangaroo before Id vote for this guy.

Damn right he was taking something, Hes like the island is uh the island is uh 7 miles 7 miles 7 miles... am I right? and 11 miles wide 11 miles wide at the other tip making the island 24 x 7 24 x 7 24 x 7. LOLOL, maybe people thought he was a rapper in his campaigns and thats why he kept repeating the same thing over and over. Our government officials are a joke and we are all voting for people who are obviously incapable of running this country. I think the conspiracy nuts might be right, it is definitely impossible that we have thousands of complete retards in charge of the country, and the leader is a frigging celebrity. Shit, they might as well of voted for Dave Chapelle.

As long as she is content to send out Tweets, stay on Fox, and earn speaker's fees to look purty and say "You Betcha!" alot, I'm fine with her.

But she won't. She's not smart enough to ignore her own press clippings.

If she even attempts to run for national office, well... can anybody say President Clinton? Hillary Clinton?

EDIT: My apologies, fellow threaders. I did not intend to side-track the discussion with off-topic comments. Here's some 2nd Amendment humor:

What u speak of is true, more new laws are getting introduced all the time taking away our rights. Did u know in certain states of america it is illegal for u to capture rainwater. If you try and save some rainwater you will be nicked for breaking the law. We are not allowed to capture and store rain without proper permits and licences. If the worlds elite get there way for a new world order it will be hell as its the devils world order in my opinion.
