why do all the tents have drawstring closures?

years ago when I moved to tents there were few brands and options and they were all overpriced for what they were. I ended up with a couple agro max tents which were among the cheapest at the time. they have somewhat decent zippers and VELCRO VENT COVERS. I can create nice negative pressure to utilize the passive intake.

I started browsing for a cheapo tent this week to flower out some males for some pollen chucks and all these bullshits have fucking drawstring vent closures. what the christ good is that? I need to spend an extra hundred bucks before I start seeing Velcro flaps. the last thing I need is my fucking pollen tent unsealed so I can have pollen all over the house and light leaks. I only need a 2x2 tent and i'm sure as hell not paying 120 bucks for it. and the vents have some kind of duct-like appendage that juts into the tent and hogs space. seriously what the fuck. if it was a 4x4 I could see the price climbing but this drawstring bullshit is even on some of the higher end ones.

am I overreacting? what good is a drawstring closure? I grabbed one anyway for 40 bucks and i'll just mod a cover for it to suit my needs but what who's bright idea was that? I see them in people's pics but no one seems to be whining except me.

The first tent I brought was tiny (only intended on growing one plant), the biggest problem I found with the tent (believe it was a MARS Hydro, that was my first mistake...) was that the vent ports where to small and not adjustable at all.Since then I have taken to DIY grow tents with PVC piping, that just uses a reflective Mylar sheeting works like a champ.But nothing comes close to the freedom available through building your own tent/grow room and it tends to be cheaper.

I got my last tent from Amazon. 5x5 for like $70. Works as good as the darkroom I bought many moons ago.

I would caution on a 2 ft tent. I run my moms in the 5x5 with a t5 and temps and humidity can get gnarly

I hope I'll be good with the cheap led I got. I've flowered males in the past with just a few small cfls and everything went ok, and the led should run at least as cool if not cooler and cheap or not it's got more power. Crossing my fingers on the humidity. It's not a problem here under the HIDs but the led might not dry the air as much.

As long as pollen doesn't get outside the tent I will have gotten my money's worth. I don't think I'll ever get over the drawstring, though. It just seems like such a bad idea.

Bought a 4X4 Ohuhu for $80. Not perfect but has multiple Velcro flaps low. Puckered closures too.

Well if you have NEGATIVE PRESSURE, that pollen isn't going anywhere man. Drawstrings work great. There's actually 2 socks on each Hole with 2 separate strings.
