why do you need to dump the rez after a flush instead of just adding nutes?

If it is simply a matter of using to many nutrients it typically means the plants are merely shocked by the rapid increase in nutrients. Unless you really over dosed them no drastic action should be taken as that action can shock the plants as much or more than the accidental high dose of nutrients. Have any physical signs of over fertilization appeared? How severe are the symptoms if there are any? These are simple questions that are need toctually give good advice. I miss read your question and had mistaken your thread for a thread where someone was taliking about a root rot problem also so the prevoius info i posted was in reference to treating root rot, bactia and pathogens in general.

If there are no severe symptoms then just dilute the solution by removing a little each day amd replacing it with fresh water and rebalancing the pH each time if needed. If thesymptoms are somewhat severe then change a large proprtion of the water the first time. You simply want to return for nutrient concentration to its normal level. The damage is already done. Doing a flush unless it is done within minutes of g do the over dose is not usually of much use. Once the damage is done it is done. The osmossis change will occur causing excess nutrients to returm to the reservoir just mby lowering the reservoir EC. You do not need to flush! Never, ever do drastic nutruent changes in EC or drastic rises in pH up or down unless abolutely necessary. Many, many times peoples cures are more damaging and stressful then the problem they are trying to fix. Nutrient free water is a drastic measure and should never be use if not absoluely necessary.
