people arent smart... I would never even try selling any kind of kush or OG x strains just because its "kush" because people would think you're an idiot... strains like laughing buddha, SSH, etc I would charge more to my friends only because they have a flowering time of 3 months and are a bit more difficult to grow or some dank new strain like gorilla glue #4 which I want to grow very bad...

Well, it the southeast a lot of times "kush" is just the catch-all name given to any high quality cannabis. For growers and more educated smokers, obviously kush is referring to the specific genetics of the strain. From an Oregon medical perspective, I have never see any kush strains here that are anymore expensive than any other good bud.
After growing up on the east coast, now living out west, the above is pretty accurate. Anywhere I travel on the east coast, "kush" is just a name. If someone has "kush", it kind of is like saying "I have the best weed that was grown out west". However, often it is crap, or just above crap.

Out west, where there are growers galore, if someone tries to peddle 'kush', people will ask about specific genetics.

Don't get tied up on the hype of what some dealer says.

Kush ive grown in the past flowers earlier than most strains and has very dense heavy buds. A big producer.

only problem ive come across is that because the buds are so tight, it can be susceptible to bud rot as moisture gets trapped in the Calxyes

true kush doesn't yield much and takes forever to veg. It also depends on area. Strains are more popular than others in certain areas.

most of the dealers around here don't have a clue as to what they are selling, if someone asks what it is they just tell them whatever popular strain pops into their head

Its a North America thing. Go to Europe everyone smokes sativas, Islands same thing. We got
alot of indoor growing here and our outdoor bud cycle is much shorter so all we can do outdoors
is hybrids autos and indicas. No true sativa can finish here. But mostly its the bag appeal,
those nice round rockhard nugs. Indoors no one wants to spend the extra time to grow
other strains, kush's bud fast and are done 8-9 weeks. Add that to the rappers and the hype
and you have the high price. Kush is an indica subclass so its just an indica, which is known
for couchlock and putting you to sleep. In Canada sometimes its hard to find anything but
kush. Also most kush strains are very small short plants with notoriously low yields. So a
grower makes a choice does he or she choose the 8 ounce hybrid to grow or 3 2.5 ounce kush's
in its place.

These new kush strains from cali coming from DNA genetics like OG #18 Holy Grail and Skywalker
are from another planet. They do not grow like a typical kush, they grow very tall with heavy yields.
im pretty sure OG'S and kush are not the same.

I'm my opinion quality and yield dictate price.
if I have a target goal for money, I need to recoup for a given space, I can either fill that space with a big yielded or charge more for a smaller yielding plant.

If demand is for kush I would have to charge accordingly.

Other than that some people just take advantage of advertising.

around here anything that looks n smells decent is "kush". it comes down to dealers playing on the ignorance of their customer which allows them to call anything remotely decent, "kush" and charge a premium for it. I remember when home grown was considered to be garbage, now home grown is medical and is easily sold as the best shit in the world. so someone spread the word that kush is the bomb so now everything that isn't brink weed, gets that label.
and thats one of the best things of growing.... you dont have to hunt it down on the "streets" and have some retard that doesnt even know what the hell he is talking anout act like he knows everything about it.... so glad i will never have to "look" for it again lol or buy it!! its the best!!
