Lets reverse the question for a moment, Why HPS?

If you are really cold and you want a light and a heater in one, then an HPS it is.

If you want a light to make light, thats what an LED does, it makes light really well. The HPS makes some light and some heat in the form of IR (half half).

What if, you want lots of light, and no heat?
If you want to preserve your trichomes, you cant have IR blasting them so they evaporate.

With an LED, you can have light with no heat (IR). This is not possible with an HPS. Even with aircon, HPS has IR and zaps the trichomes.

HPS IS DEAD.

LED is KING.

LED + CMH is the ACE in the deck.


So thats your answer.

Nice, that's what I like to hear. I'm just ordered 5 hlg 288 quantum boards in Rspec to go around my existing cmh lights.

Which is the best? Well we need to define best first.


In my eyes, what makes a light a good light, is its ability to make light from the resources you give it.

From my understanding, LEDS do this best.

I think we need to define what is "best" before even talking about this further.

It may say I am new member but I am not new to this. If someone knows of an actual set up that works LED. At least 2-3 lbs every 3x3 section, let me know. Other wise I am just seeing the same stuff over and over. Less A/C, Less energy yadda yadda.

Lolololol. exactly. Blurple bull shit. This guy has Sooooo much to learn. We don't use blue and red LEDs guy. White LED is where the yields at.

Depends on your limitations ,Do you want the max yield from your space restrictions or do you want most efficient use of your biggest cost in powering your lighting and environment controls ?
Answer that and then I'll give you an reason.

Maybe he's 100% efficiently growing a plant every sq' in hydro, but even then, dude talks like that's a normality for the majority. Or even anyone fir anyone really.
Goood growers average 2#'s off a 1000 DE. A SOG n cranked to 1200w, maybe 3.
I just harvested a few 20-24 oz (Bag Meat Only #'s) single plants in a pheno-hunt under about 400w a plant. Not to bad with a weird root bug issue. Each plant turned out to be worth keeping. Got lucky genetically.

You people are a waste of time. A decade ago on air cooled small hood hps 1000, no de, no Co2, in 3 gl pots, soil, no netting, I would pull 3lbs. 1-1/2 a light, sometimes more. At air temps hitting 101 as well.

Maybe you all need to go back to class.

So what Spectrum is your white LEDs, no close red, far red? No blue for inhances veg and more vigor?
Full Spectrum maybe?

I could care less what you people think.

youll need to buy a master controller to dim the light plus a umol light reader so you dont fry your plants and then youll be good to go
