yah, this is why i never understood the thought behind 12 / 12.. all they're doing is denying their plants a few hours every day that they could be getting more light and therefore growing more..
if people do 12 / 12 simply for space reasons, there's a ton of things one could do to keep their plants short instead of denying them light, ie, lst, supercropping, scrog, etc...

I have read so much on flowering plants and have flowered a few myself now and the first plant took 2 weeks to show its gender and the second plant took 1 week to show... Luckily they were both female ... As far as a mature plant, Ive heard of people starting out after 2 weeks of veg and then going to 12/12 from 18/6 and they took anywhere from 1 week to 2 weeks to show as well... Its all in the lighting unless like they say its an auto flower... Anyway maybe this info might help you out... Diff. lights also make a diff. in what you grow and yield as well and how soon they develop, Good light , equals healthier plant to grow and mature faster...

well hopefully they show soon i have 2 2700k and 1 6500k 23w cfl so its getting both spectrums

Also the best way I found out how to grow is to just figure it out myself after I read up a little and decipher between all the info given and then pretty much experiment from there... You will get the hang of it and be like ( Well Damn , is that all there is to it.. ) LOL

i've never tried 12 / 12 from seed as i think it's silly, but i would think that the plant would have to reach some point of maturity before it would start to flower.. whether or not this means it getting preflowers and alternating nodes like it does when you veg a plant under normal veg light periods, i'm not so sure..
but i'm fairly sure that i've read in the past that you still have to wait for the plant to show preflowers before it wll flower at all, but like i said, these are only things i've read and nothing i've seen or tried first hand..

thats because before a plant can flower, it has to preflower.

To be clear here, a plant usually has to be 3-4 weeks old before it becomes sexually mature.

At THAT point, if you put it under 12-12 lighting, it should flower.

With some notable exceptions of autoflowering plants, most conventional strains will not flower until/unless they become sexually mature.

i also never understood why people go 12 /12 from seed i aswell think plant has to mature which could take a while
now i understand taking a clone and goin 12 12 then you got 3 " clone that is actually mature plant

agree with you why 12/12 if it take say 3 weeks for it to mature why not 18/6 for three weeks then switch so its already mature
