Hey growers..I ran into a little problem and currently have my grow tent being repaired "zippers, light leaks,etc.." it was bought used.. anyway i'm in the middle of flowering and the only place i can put my baby is in my closet but i cannot have a 600w hps cooking in there so i have a 24in t5s at 6500k which i used for cloning. I know its not anything close to the correct lighting or amount but i need to work with what ive got. Main thing is i cannot put the hps in there so i was looking around and stumbled upon my dj gear and noticed i have a led panel so i was wondering would it actually work to grow???

here are the specs and link to the led panel i have... id like to know if this will actually work to grow i'm sure it wont replace my hps/mh but can it be added or help in anyway? i'd really like to use it if it did :-)
thanks....

btw i'm only flowering one plant around 2x2 of space...

I ise to use this panel as a color wash on stage and it easily lit up a 5x5 space.. i only need 2x2 at the moment, i figure i have nothing to loose and to try it... i assumed also that blue would be for veg and red for flower or would it be ideal to leave both red and blue on.

12 watts won't do anything short of vegging for a short time.

If you did decide to use it, I'd use the entire RBG, plants absorb it all.

Just blue or just red will not grow very healthy plants. R+B works, R+G+B works even better.

White + red works best in my experience.

hmm well i do have 3 skywalker clones in 1gal smartpots...i might use the led for them..Fortunately this is just a temporary fix till i get my tent back and hook up my 600w hps... i just hate to have them loose a precious week of 600watts :( and AC ...

green will not do anything for your plants. incorrect info there.

i would say you would be better of grabbing a few warm white cfls for now.

Incorrect info? No, it is not.

Green is absorbed. It is common misconception that green is not absorbed. Other colors are absorbed more, but green is still absorbed, and plants benefit from it.

Warm white CFLs would be a better option though than the DJ light, which by the way, warm white CFLs have a decent amount of mid colors including green.

I am glad I decided to build my room as opposed to getting another tent, tents are nice only with back pressure it puts a lot of stress on the seams and they just don't last.

i am well aware of the color spectrum of warm whites.
my green light that is on all the time has done nothing for my plants. beneficial or detrimental.

absorbed? sure. beneficial? no.
