Update :

Looks like this light likes growing them large. :weed:

Had to raise light to compensate for the final stretching ( i hope :D ) - i am reaching upper limits of good plant penetration- so i spin this plant daily to compensate.

All the plants i tested under this lamp worked out great. Cuttings / seed starts / veg and of course flower. Definitely think the addition of optics to the boards really helped in growth.

Thanks @ViparSpectra :bigjoint:

Update - Original Motor Breath

So , it seems this little lady is at the end ….
‘She hasn’t been up taking water in last 48 hours , bucket still relatively heavy . I looked over buds and am pretty happy with what look like - I plan to just let her dry “ in pot “ until it is light enough in weight to chop her down. So maybe by Saturday ?

She has been one of my best plants and is the reason I am sticking with coco for now. She blasted past my other original Cafe Racer / KKP plant running about the same time ( in soil ). Those plants are in late flower but still have time to finish.

With this husky gal out of the tent , I will have a bit more space ( maybe for those “fringe“ plants just outside of tent )

So , she will sit on a tray in room ( ambient light / temp ) to finish drying up. I might do a pre-trim Friday night or Saturday.
She has a sweet gassy aroma :bigjoint:

I would like to thank @ViparSpectra for the chance to run their lights for my test garden.
‘I will look forward to any other testing you want me to do. This light is phenomenal and am still running it on the Motor Breath clone , now flowering as well. ( update later :D )

theres white pistils everywhere.
Actually there are - however she has stopped drinking and is still under a light. I am giving her some time to move forward or not.

If i need to run it longer it would not be an issue.

The XS1500 pro is limited in penetration with a plant like this - I mentioned i have to spin plant during light cycle to improve lighting and that is why this happening.

Well - here we are again …. Plant outgrew the XS1500pro :(

So i had to move that to another spot . Again NOT the fault of the light , it does grow big ass plants , its just not enough to fully flower.

This is why the the Daisy-chain function of this light is something to plan around in your own space or grow area. In my opinion, it is better to have more power than you might need than not enough.

However, not to stop “ testing “ this light , i put some plants that were “ fringe “ growing ( sitting outside of tent / no space available ) - so now they have the XS1500pro to its self.

XS1500 pro - KKP ( King Kong Poison )

IMG_0402.jpegIMG_0403.jpegIMG_0404.jpeg

Note :
I will keep this thread going for a bit so i am actually expanding testing with various plants and strains . This one is throwing more sativa heavy phenos ( thats why i grew them - Durban poison parent  ) and shows those lovely narrow leaf.

Some of those sneaky branches in the back will get “ adjusted “ to level things more before branches get to woody. Had to leave after i took pic - no time :( today - have to go serve a bunch of warrants today at work:bigjoint:…..

Anyways may do a schwazz defoliation on these , cuz why not ?

Again thanks @ViparSpectra :weed:

Schwazz style
Decided on a one and done approach to defoliating - schwazz like . I also opened the plant with some LST to set the structure - wide and open.

Although I didn’t go too crazy - this about as much as o feel comfortable with .

Here is 1 of the 2 done for pic. The other will be done later today.

This way i can just use the XS 1500 pro to further test.

Final - Motor Breath

Trim hell :wall:

I let the Motor Breath plant just finish up in her pot a few days , drying out . I began breaking colas down and started some pre trimming .
I keep it for myself and wifey plus 2 smoker cats so trimming for looks I’m not really doing. I do leave sugar leaf in my buds - cuz I’m smokin that shit.

She threw purples , blues and some red hues in different parts of various colas. Frost is caked on well.
Sweet gassy goodness to the nose .

I want to thank @ViparSpectra for the chance to run a test with an outstanding light -

The Journey continues :bigjoint:

Weed. Weed. Weed .

These are the last of that “ go to “ strain I regularly grow - I am a sativa guy and hard to turn down the Durban poison part. :bigjoint:
I plan to use this light in some fashion or another and plan to keep thread alive.

These 2 plants have been defoliated a bit more than I usually grow , because of the LST I worked into . Open wide for the inners to go vertical.
Not growing for anything other than back up Schmokin :bigjoint: . I have plenty of other strains I really need to run and explore.

For this grow I wanted to run this lamp only thru end - something I couldn’t quite do because of the last plant’s overall size. By keeping plants - wide I kind of kept a more controlled canopy of sorts. I have been picking off baby growth for the most part and just letting them have as much light as possible. One of the plants is a little more leafy but will adjust that one as it grows.

They smell piney / earthy and is definitely sticky . Even pulling leaf , fingers are tacky .

I like this strain as it is my beer and chill strain …. I get a little dry mouth when Schmokin …. So out comes the brews
A win win.

You can see some narrow leaf pheno in her too. Only downside is rotating plants so each gets the central lighting , they traded places at every feed.
Growers gotta improvise sometimes ….. lol.

Thanks @ViparSpectra -

Budzbuddha, you’re inspiring me with this grow.

I’m brand new to weed growing and had a rocky start with my initial attempt at growing outside, mainly because I started late in the season.
So I cancelled the outdoor grow til next year and got a xs-1500 coming in the mail, which I may use to grow a Blueberry CBD auto, if not now then during the winter months.

My wife and I live in our own home but she’s stingy about me always spending a $$ on stuff (or putting it nicely, she’s more practical haha) so what’s the minimum I’ll need for a decent grow without spending a lot & my house not smelling of weed?

Thanks

I’m just wondering if I have a shot at a successful grow without having to buy a lot of equipment (tent and all the other stuff). Welcome aboard :weed:

You can start small ( one plant ) / potting mix / simple nutes ( dry fertilizer ) and get your feet wet. Cannabis isnt some hard to grow plant - if you can grow a tomato plant , you can grow pot.

Its a learning thing . If wifey likes to smoke , it will pay off over time growing your own. You don’t need a huge setup if its just you two. Eventually, you will run more plants then find the amount ( legally) you fill like running. Simple soil grows are perfect for beginners- as soil itself can feed it upfront. On just water.

As you gain more experience- you can venture into hydro / coco.

Start a journal on RIU - that way you can connect to growers like myself or others. Many here can help along the way - but just have a thick skin lurking around RIU ( used to be more knuckleheads ) trolling members - but of that settled down. Plus we often put off topic funny replies , nothing serious just some shit talkin and goofin.

Thanks a lot, much appreciated.

I’m a backyard veggie gardener. Right now the tomatoes, eggplant, & various other stuff are doing well, except for the usual pests. Spotted lanternflies are enemy #1 and they may turn out to be very troublesome for outdoor weed growers.

Once I get started, I’ll start a journal for sure as I’ll need as much help as I can get.
