World Of Hempy

The cheese can stretch a bit (too much veg and it could grow 4ft+). Ive really worked on maximizing ever cm of my 3'9" room, my lights are fitted directly onto the ceiling.

With the really stretchy plants, pinching may be necessary. Also I almost always do 12/12 from rooted Clone, so I give them no veg. With the stretchier strains, I'm also learning that height can be controlled a bit by placing in the hempy whilst the roots are shorter than I might do with plants that don't stretch.

It hasn't been straight forward for me but I've learnt to deal with the space I have and with a few techniques I feel I can grow most strains.

hi Moebius....I'm a very inexperienced grower but have decided after reading your thread to give the world of hempty a whirl.

I recently started 5 seeds, 3 in soil and 2 in starter plugs then into hempty pop bottles, of which one is not looking good but the other seems to be doing alright.

Question: when do I start using nutes on the hempty plants?

Hi Sun King, 2 things first, Its not 'my' thread. (there are some better growers than I here); and its 'Hempy' (although we can call it 'hempty' if you want.) :-?

I would give it at least a week then a very week dose to start. IMO ..... (Please others chime in)

Welcome to WoH dude, and best of luck with your first Hempys. +REP

Thanks Moebius....yeah, I just proved what a noob a truely am....I'll be sure to drop the "t" and call it hempy.

I'm quite sure I'll be making more stupid mistakes, just hope not big enough to impact my plant.

Your seedlings in the soil will be fine for 2 to 3 wks, follow Moe's advice on the starter plug plants.

yo, sun king, here's some stuff for dampening off disease, but i've also heard a weak h2o2 solution can help; honestly though, that lil gal might be done for :

Seedlings: Damping off disease (from GH Organics, i've only used chamomile spray on tomatoes, but if thats what you've got, i dont see it hurting anything to give it a go)
Always use a sterile growing medium like mixes with vermiculite and perlite for your seed starting as these should not contain the fungi that cause damping-off. Water your seedlings with warm water that has been left to sit for an hour or more to dissipate most of the chemicals that are present in tap water. Using cold water stresses the seedlings leaving them vulnerable to harmful organisms.

1. Chamomile Spray: Chamomile tea is an excellent preventative for damping-off. Use on seed starting soil, seedlings and in any humid planting area. Chamomile is a concentrated source of calcium, potash and sulfur. The sulfur is a fungus fighter. This can also be used as a seed soak prior to planting.
To make: Pour 2 cups boiling water over 1/4 cup chamomile blossoms. Let steep until cool and strain into a spray bottle. Use as needed. This keeps for about a week before going rancid. Spray to prevent damping off and anytime you see any fuzzy white growth on the soil. Chamomile blossoms can be purchased at health food stores and usually grocery stores.
2. Seaweed Spray: A seaweed spray which is so rich in nutrients and everything that seedlings require can also be used to prevent damp-off. Make a strong mixture adding 2/3 cup of kelp concentrate to 1 gallon of water, spray.

work up your nute strength slowly for the other one, and make sure she's letting you know when to water (get a feel for the weight of the container both full and empty and you'll know when to water every time)
best of luck, king
be easy,
Dr.J :bigjoint:

EDIT: that dampening off info is probably only good for your repertoire; that lil gal looks pretty close to dead to me...save the recipes for if you face it again!

What ph do u guys like to keep ur hempys at?

And if any of the Hempy Kings on here could take a look at my first grow it would be nice! I got the hang of it some what but just need some feedback that's all!
Thnx guys!

Dr.J20....you are right, she's as dead as a door nail....no tears lost as I have 4 healthly plants and one will be hempy.

I'm really looking forward to this and will no doubt be asking for help along the way. Thanks everyone for your feedback and support :)

I don't pH in Hempy.

edit;

This may change but i doubt it atm.

Reason why I ask is bc im using RO water and when I mix my GH grow and bloom my ph hits 7.0. And I think my plants are getting a N lockout bc the lower leaves are yellowing/ white leaves. And it seems to be moving up my plant. Any ideas?

First question for you which GH nutes are you using? Have you checked your pH meter (calibrated it)? I also use RO and GH Flora grow, micro and bloom, as I am doing the lucas formula the grow isn't used much but my pH after adding nutes to the water is generally around 6.4 to 6.6.

I use coco hempy buckets and ph my nutes to 5.8 then slowly bring it up to about 6.3. Reason being that certain nutrients are absorbs at different ph levels. IMO a ph of 7.0 is a little high. I never take my ph level higher than 6.8. However i dont think its a lockout if u are using bloom nutes.
If u r using bloom..... how long have u been using bloom nutes? I only ask becuase bloom nutes have little nitrogen in them which may be causing the yellowing at the bottom leaves. This is normal as plants dont use/need too much N while in flower where P and K are much more important.
Post some pics as that will help us help u....

How about adding the 'Micro' to your solution? Especially important if you're using RO water, I would have thought.

I was using 'FloraBloom' and 'FloraMicro' ... Ive just started using the 'FloraGro'. ... I checked the GH feed schedule and can't believe how different it is to what I had been feeding. Ive decided to give it a try.

I use tap water so not pH may be more OK for me ... I don't know tbh. ... BUT IMO ...be careful with pH down. AGAIN IMO. Get your feed as dialled in as you can before using it. Phosphoric acid (ph down) will completely change the NPK ratio of your base nutes so this should be remembered.

I'm giving up on COCO I can't control the growth. Just kidding!!!!

Photos from a few days back. Day 22 now 52" above medium, and I topped all mains 3 times prior to flower.

Raised the hood to carabiner on the ceiling hook. (I can get 1 1/2"more and thats it) now bottom edge of hood at 57"

I'm currently just below the hood edge, I'm hoping she'll stay under 5'. I'd hate to tie her down because I see baseball bats in the future.

Medium for my next round, thinking of adding some #4 perlite to this mix and filling to the bottom with the same mix.

I don't have a ph meter as I have the solution where u put water in a container and test it. So I tested my tap water and its at a ph of 8 and my RO water is at a 6. So last time I feed my plants I just combined flora gro and flora bloom 1/2 tsp with RO water and didn't tes it afterwards. When I fed my plants they had a run off of 7. I have a rockwool cube in there with a ph around 6 I think. My plants are 1 month 1/2 in veg. Any more infor u guys need?

I still need to get some flora micro but kinda low on cash. And im doing the same thing. I know im not suppose to be using flora bloom in veg but im just following the feeding schedule until I know when to feed and how much.

Here's some pix guys and I already know about the nute burn. The yellow/white leaves are the very bottom and the green one is the 2nd set of leaves. I've barely started giving it flora bloom prolly 2nd time using it but I was using flora grow from the beginning

If u only feed with bloom nutes 2x then the normal yellowing isnt whats goin on. U problably had a lockout issue. I see from the burnt tips u were feeding her too much at some point so its not from a lack of nutes.... just ph correctly and keep going u should be ok. Might wanna invest in a digital meter in the future too. A lot more easier and faster IMO.

Dont forget ur micro nutes and calmag if ur using RO.

Adding the flora bloom isn't the issue, cut back on the flora grow. When you are able to get the micro and if possible get you some calmag of some sort, any will do. Even with micro you will need the calmag as micro won't have enough to support RO water in most cases. You might be able to correct some of the deffincies by getting some Epsom Salts and spread that over the perlite just before watering/feeding it will add some magnesium for the plant, as for calcium that might not be so easy. Someone else might have an answer for quick calcium.
